Marina Ayers was never meant to touch land. Born in the deep, deep dark, her home was so far from the sky her siblings would never see the sun. Life was strange. Strange to us, of course. To her, drifting between bubbling crevices on the ocean’s floor, weaving through kelp forests and watching for the bobbing lanterns of passing anglerfish was part of daily life. There was no world to her beyond the inky black.

And then, a message from above. Glimmering, glinting, shimmering. It came from... from up.

It shone to her like a diamond, a flash of something precious. But when she took hold of it, it cut. Ripped open her hand, red billowing in the water like spilled wine. It zipped up and out of sight again. When she asked her father, he told her it was her imagination - that her imagination could cut her! But when she asked her eldest brother, he explained. He told her about up.

Up there, people like them existed. They walked on their feet and breathed air and had rooms for making their skin wet. And Marina must never see them, never meet them; they were dangerous. 

Which, of course, is true. But it wouldn’t be a story if it ended there. Years passed wherein the curiosity ate and ate at her. She asked questions for a while, but soon her brother became suspicious, so she stopped. And in the end, it wasn’t enough to hear about it. Marina had to see, had to... know. So she went. 

Up.

It was all true, of course, but not near enough. The sun was scalding and bright. The sand was dry and coarse. The people had feet, but also toes! Little fingers on their hands, but small and fat! They breathed air, but also smoke sometimes, and other times steam that smelled of plants. 

Leave it to the young to let curiosity be the death of them. The deep sea creatures that know of life above know what it costs. They know that to shed one’s skin is to be vulnerable, to carry their life around forever. It is to be weak. Marina couldn’t know these things. When she fell in love on land, she couldn’t know what it would cost her. Not until she was stuffing her slick ocean skin into a suitcase. Not until the man she thought she loved made off with it in the night, on the run with her skin under his arm.

All at once, she was stranded. Stranded on land with feet and toes herself, breathing air. The ocean she’d felt so eager to leave had never looked so enticing, but she couldn’t return without her skin. Too long without it, and the ocean would never be her home again.

So the quest begins. To find her skin, all the while surviving in a world that isn’t her own. But maybe some things are worth staying around for...

Marina is known to be a bit of a dreamer, always off in her head and sometimes hard to get a hold of. She’s gentle and warm, eager to help and happy to please, often a little too much(or she wouldn’t be here at all). Understandably, she has a deep love for the ocean. While she keeps her secret close to her, lest anyone else learn about her missing skin and try to fetch a profit from it, those near and dear to her are often the small few aware of her situation. To the rest of the world, she’s as good as human, and maybe she always will be. 

She makes a living for herself as an artist, though she’s not exactly famous for it. It’s enough to get by, to pay for tickets here and there on the hunt for her skin. She has a small apartment made even smaller by the sheer amount of aquariums she keeps there, but she can’t stand to see fish crammed into tanks in the pet shop or given out in bags at the faire. Any fish she can find has a home in her apartment, and most nights she falls asleep watching them live their happy lives.

Katherine ‘Kit’ Abrams for @fangssims Bachelorette Challenge!

Katherine, better known as Kit by her friends, is used to fighting for what she wants. Born into a large and poor family, Kit has had to work hard to get to where she is now - the head bartender and assistant manager at the Blue Room. But things haven’t always been as perfect as they seem now. For a couple years, she lived in Sulani, learning more about the culture and training under one of the best mixologists in the business. Those years were probably the best of her life, besides the heartbreak that accompanied it. But hey, she discovered that the occult were real and weren’t just myths, so that was cool! A little unexpected, definitely, but still cool.

Kit has been working towards what she wants in life for years. And what she wants is to have her own bar, a family of her own, and true love. The kind of love that knocks the breath out of you, sends you spinning, never wanting to be apart from them, kind of true love. She thought she had that once, but discovered that maybe it wasn’t as perfect as she thought. But now that she’s gotten over her heartbreak, it’s time to get back in the game. And when she saw the call for Mia and Amelia’s Bachelorette Challenge, it was a no brainer. Kit laid eyes on Amelia’s picture and was immediately head over heels, no questions asked. Beautiful, smart, a businesswoman? Perfect and the complete opposite of her last relationship. So she decided to give it a shot and put in her entry. Hopefully she’ll be able to find love with Amelia and nothing will throw her life out of wack - again.

Kit tends to like things clean and orderly, from her workspace to her life. Entering this challenge is probably the craziest thing she’s ever done, so there’s definitely some anxiety behind her excitement. But she has a feeling Amelia might be worth it.

She’s the middle child of five siblings, but she’s sort of taken on the mantle of oldest. Her older brother was always quiet and was bullied, so she learned young how to fight. The most surprising thing about her is probably her athletic skills - she’s beaten up many a bully for screwing with her family.

As much as she loves her family, she’d much rather have a small family than a big one. Honestly, she’d be fine with not having any kids at all, though she wouldn’t be opposed to having kids. More than three is where she draws the line though.

Was called Kat for the first few years of her life, but decided she didn’t like that nickname and christened herself Kit.

Kit’s all about her appearance - like, to an unhealthy degree sometimes. Because their family was so broke when she was younger, she takes pride in the fact that she’s able to wear nicer clothes and always wants to look her best.

She once tried surfing and crashed so many times that now she refuses to go near the ocean. Which was pretty awkward, considering she was dating a mermaid at the time.

Has a distinguished degree in the Culinary Arts and is super proud about it. She likes to say that she doesn’t brag about it, but nah, she totally brags about it. Mainly because she never thought she’d get the opportunity and then she went past her wildest dreams. So. DISTINGUISHED DEGREE IN THE CULINARY ARTS, BITCHES!

Kit has generalized anxiety, but she’s gotten good at hiding it. When she’s in the middle of a big panic attack, she tends to just completely shut down. No talking, no moving, nothing.

A total introvert. She doesn’t like big crowds of people unless she’s behind the bar. The bar is her safe space, but if she was at the bar and not behind the counter? No way in hell. She’s going home immediately.

Her guilty pleasure is erotica novels. She feels so stupid reading them, but like - hot damn.

Sometimes she really hates how in-control she has to feel. What destroyed her and Aurelia’s relationship is that she felt that Aurelia was out of her control and did whatever she wanted and it really scared Kit. She sometimes wishes she could be as carefree as Aurelia, but she just… can’t.

Lowkey has a thing for tattoos. Wants to get one herself in the future, but like, a small one. Also hates needles, so that contradiction makes tattoos much more difficult.

The time was 1642, the night air was crisp and the young Moretti boy was heading home from the local tavern after a night filled with activities which would make his poor mother faint and his preacher father call down the lords anger. Though they would have preferred to hear it all instead of loosing their son forever. He still hasn’t found out who turned him, or why, but after awakening in a ditch with more than a few freshly healed wounds, a terrible reaction to the sun, and a wicked thirst he fled town never to return.

Fast forward a few centuries and the young Moretti boy has taken a new name and become one of the most prolific rockers of his generation. Many fans all over the world love his “stage persona” and it has gathered him a rather impressive pool of groupies he feeds on regularly.

Malakai lives for music and glory. He cares about pretty much nothing else in the world. The fame and fortune are nice, the constant stream of blood is better, but above it all is the thrill he gets on stage. Sharing his music and his message to millions of people, more than he ever knew existed as a young preacher’s son back in his youth. Valentina Lance, originally known as Valeria Lupo when she was human, is an Italian vampire who was turned after a vicious unprovoked attack in an alleyway of San Myshuno which left her for dead at the age of 23. A kind, experienced Vampire discovered Valentina after the attack and knew he had to help, but the only way to keep her alive was to turn her into a vampire, so that’s what he did. When Valentina awoke, he told her what had happened and recommended that she started a new life somewhere else, so that’s exactly what she did, changing her name and moving to windenburg. As far as her family knows, Valeria went missing the night of the attack and never returned, presumed dead as her blood was found at the scene. While in Windenburg, Valentina worked as a barista in a cafe, being in a relationship with a human woman for about 3 years but that went sour, so Valentina moved to Britechester, enrolling in a Uni to get her degree in Physics, which she is seriously passionate about. During her studies she had various one night stands with all kinds of people and partied a lot, but she liked to study vampirism too, to make her experience better and more comfortable, seeing as she was going to be around forever. Once Valentina graduated, she moved to Oasis Springs to work as a high ranking scientist in the lab there, where she also found out how to become resistant to the sun, which was a great benefit seeing as Oasis Springs is always hot and sunny. While working at the lab, she became quite close friends with a witch she met at an occult club, who told her about Forgotten Hollow, a place where Vampires could live in peace and not have to worry about humans, who Valentina had grown quite bored of. She found it quite lonely being the only Vampire she knew of in that area, so she made the decision to move to Forgotten Hollow, and that leads to where she is now! Currently, Valentina lives alone in her small home in Forgotten hollow, and she works at the laboratory in Del Sol Valley as the chief scientist! Valentina is lonely, though, and she’d love to find a romantic relationship with a Vampire so that they can spend their immortal lives together. Valentina’s family are long gone now, she followed their lives up until the last one, her younger sister Luciana, died 2 years ago. She’s lonely, and she wishes she had someone with her. Valentina is interested in Mia because she’s a vampire like her, and Valentina thinks she’s absolutely beautiful, especially with her tattoos, which Valentina loves, even having a few herself. She thinks that herself and Mia could get on quite well as they both seem to like a bit of fun, Valentina loves to go to parties often and sometimes even cause a bit of trouble at said parties! Aurelia Moore grew up in the ocean - well, not literally. Left on the shores of Sulani by her birth mother, Aurelia was found crying by her adoptive parents under the boardwalk and was taken in. She had an amazing childhood on the beaches, called ‘little fish’ by her dads’ because of her tendency to spend her days in the ocean. They may not have expected the gills and tail when they first took her in, but they got used to it fairly quickly. 

Now an adult, Aurelia is taking on the streets of Sulani, spending her days doing whatever the hell she wants. A freelance diver, Aurelia uses the fact that she’s a mermaid to make some quick coin while still making her own hours. Having complete control over her life is perfect for her free spirit, but sometimes… well, life is a little boring, especially since she broke up with her ex, Kit. So when she saw the call for Mia and Amelia’s Bachelorette Challenge - well, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to spice things up in her life. And it certainly helps that both of the Bachelorettes are gorgeous. So why not go for it? Pretty girls, screwing up her life a bit- sounds like a blast! And if she actually falls for one of them? Even better!

Aurelia tends to be a contradiction depending on her mood - she finds it really important that she has control over her life, but that control often leads to her making dumb decisions, like going on a road trip when she should be working to pay the bills the are due tomorrow. Her dads’ have had to help her out financially more than once over her whims.

Her favorite color is light yellow and her favorite animal is dolphins.

She absolutely hates seafood. Not because ‘fish are friends, not food’ - tho it’s totally like that with clownfish, she loves those idiots - but because she’s just not a huge fan of the taste of most fish.

She’s had a couple relationships - some long-term, some flings. Her longest relationship was with her ex, Kit, that didn’t end very well.

Allergic to oranges which is horrible - she tried an orange once, loved it, then almost died. So. Dreams about having an orange again one day.

Even though she’s fairly confident in who she is, Aurelia sometimes worries that she’ll never find long-term love. Having a free-spirited partner isn’t for everyone and she gets that, but so far she keeps finding people who aren’t here for it. Which, you know, can damage the self-esteem a bit.

Would melt if anyone ever called her Rue. Why? Dunno, but she would.

The girl is here for some nice girl in red and Clairo, but her all time favorite artist is One Direction. It’s so embarrassing and only one other person in the world knows it beside her dads’. She says that her favorite artist is Gang of Youths instead, who she also loves, but she’s a Niall girl at heart.

Aurelia’s a diver because it’s easy, not because she enjoys it. If she was ever going to switch careers, she’d probably go into photography. It’s her main passion - her ex’s can attribute to that, given how many forced photoshoots they were all part of.

Her dads’ still call her ‘little fish’. She loves it so fucking much.

She’s really chill most of the time, but her mood also changes on a dime, which isn’t great for the person on the receiving end.
