one of the current things popping up over and over again that people are saying which just isn’t true (like the whole “blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” thing) is that the why did the chicken cross the road joke is a dark joke about it dying - going to the “other side”. and people are saying they’ve just now realised this

and it annoys me no end because clearly no one understands the original joke. It’s an anti-joke, you’re expecting it to be a pun or a play on words and it’s just. The literal answer. It’s not funny now because it’s been repeated so often, but that’s the idea behind it

Also “to get to the other side” is the answer to why the ghost crossed the cemetery. If you were wondering

My favourite thing about people pointing out that the true crime thing has got a bit… weird and a little unethical is everyone in the comments pointing out that THEIR favourite true crime podcaster/youtuber is one of the only good ones. The true crime genre is now a bit problematic but their fave is the only unproblematic one

I’m watching a Gilmore and Roberts livestream (amazing folk duo) and they debuted their new song and I love it so much and these lines about a girl who drowned in the Seine hit me hard:

Maybe it felt like the only way out Maybe you tripped and no one heard you shout Perhaps you were loved but the loneliness darkened your days

Especially that last one like - that’s what it’s like sometimes

I’m so mad I didn’t find out Galavant was a thing until last week and also I’m mad that it was cancelled after two seasons! It is hilarious and has musical numbers and pokes loads of fun at a genre I love and just... you should watch it if you can
