Could i ask for more personality insight on your 007n7? (attitude, beliefs, ego n'stuff)
I really look up to your characterizations and writing, and 007n7 is my favourite character. But, it's been rrreeaallly hard for me to figure him out. There's so much to him and i'm quite insecure about my perception.

i'm happy you like my take on him!! i don't think theres one particular correct way to characterize him - he was just a silly hacker with a burger on his head lol - so i'd say follow your heart and try a bunch of things until it feels right to you! research, pull from your own observations/lived experiences, analyze media you like and how they handle characters/tropes you like, that sorta thing.
for my 007n7, forsaken inspired me to pull from my favorite trope of all time, ie. evil villain, good dad trope. i've said this at least once in the past, but well before i ever posted on tumblr and was mostly a lurker, i was a DEVOUT bnha dad for one theorist. after things sorta,,, shook out the way they did with that series, i was still in love with the concept, which funneled its way into my n7 later on, particularly in literally giving him a villain costume for conducting hacking lol.
as for personality, i really liked the idea of him trying to put his wrongdoings behind him, but still secretly loving the violence and adrenaline rush of it all. i got really tired of all the forsaken n7 takes making him sad tbh bc like, if i was in his position and had the background he did, id be fucking PISSED! id lose my shit!! so my n7 is a full on pyromanic and more, he's just good at hiding it bc he’s an incredibly private man. he's wired a little wrong, he knows the destruction he seeks only hurts the people around him, but it's a fundamental part of him he can never shake. When he was younger, he could afford to live in the present and get drunk off of the adrenaline. but as he got older/ck entered his care, and he had to ask himself what his ultimate goal was, he just couldn't keep living like that. He'll still jump at the chance to get to hack for a big job, or rough house in exercises with his students, or be a little bit of an asshole to the right person, but it’s significantly more restrained. My biggest inspiration for this part of him was discord from mlp - discord still retains his inherent chaotic nature after being reformed, he just REALLY has to restrain himself and is occasionally still kind of an asshole if the right opportunity presents itself. even then, he's only doing it for the person who inspired him to love and change, fluttershy (in n7's case, that was ck entering his life).
the other big thing i wanted to do with him is give him a speckled past. like doing all the shit he was doing DEFINITELY sent him to jail, and jail fucks you up on a fundamental level. you watch interviews with excons and like, you can kinda tell, it changes how you conduct yourself completely. most violence focused jobs do. a core memory i have from middle school was our school police officer doing a presentation and playing videos of criminals getting really hurt and just. laughing for an uncomfortably long amount of time. no empathy there. that whole system changes you, thus adding a bit to n7's "off"-ness.
overall, he's an old man with some really bad habits, and socially he's a little,,, off, but he wants to keep living and improving for the sake of his loved ones.
