Time for an animation history tidbit!

Gloves as a character design choice was specifically done for inkblot characters like Mickey, Oswald, Flip the Frog, etc. Characters with bodies done entirely in black ink. The inkblot design is good because it forces strong silhouette, making each pose easily visible and expressive, while also being simple. But, the hands are almost as important as the face in terms of a character’s expressiveness, so the white gloves ensure that the intricate movements of the fingers don’t get lost against the rest of the body.

Henry is not an inkblot character; his hands are perfectly visible as is. Gloves simply don’t make sense for his character design.
