So, how about the Thousand Year Door remaster going by the game's Japanese translation, thereby confirming Vivian is canonically a trans woman?

This was such an exciting revelation to me personally that I decided to draw fanart of Vivian repping her trans pride... alongside a certain Koopa I haven't drawn in a little while! 💙🏳️‍⚧️💜

I never thought I'd live to see the day Nintendo include a transfeminine character in one of their games #Like yeah I understand that's how it's always been in the Japanese version but like #They could have just as easily copy-pasted the entire script of the English localization and called it a day #So the fact that they reverted the erasure of Vivian's trans identity for the remaster is... admirable actually #I own the original TTYD and have it... someplace. I never got very far so I don't necessarily have an attachment to Vivian #Though I can 100% see that changing with the remaster's ease of access— you just KNOW I had to draw something to celebrate!#Sometime soon I'd like to do a modern two-frame idle for Micah Koopa alongside Mario himself #Seeing as I have a sprite animation of her drawn in the style of Paper Mario on the N64 #I'm basically just looking for excuses to draw her at this point.#Did you know that she has a butch Hammer Bro girlfriend? Once I finalize her design you may get to see her too... 👀

Wonder #But my amazing sister Stephanie was the one that brought the similarities between them and my Koopsona to my attention #I ABSOLUTELY plan on drawing my Koopsona with rollerblades now because of this #I might even make it part of her final design. I feel as though they would suit her quite well! 🏳️‍⚧️

#Star's Art #Micah Koopa #Super Mario #Paper Mario #Koopsona #Coolness #Remember how a mere two posts ago that I said I'd draw my koopsona in the actual Paper Mario style?#Well... SURPRISE!!!! 💖#I wanted to save this post for this Thursday at the earliest seeing that I've been posting a lot about this koopa lately #But after some thought I decided to just post it today because I REALLY want my sister Stephanie to see this #I am so proud of this piece that I just couldn't WAIT to show it to everyone!!#I actually had a draft of this drawing going around the time I first showed my koopsona off here #But I ended up finishing it in almost one sitting and a half because... truth be told...#It is RIDICULOUSLY fun to draw in Paper Mario's artstyle and I've yet again mastered a style on my first attempt XD #I was so certain that the shading style of the Paper Mario series (And the Mario franchise in general) would be a nightmare #But after realizing the trick used to pull it off I was able to finish this quite quickly!#I also heavily referenced TTYD's Koopa Troopa sprite sheet over on Spriter's Resource to draw this #Seeing as that game's sprites are assembled from pieces so there were plenty of assets to go off of #I wanted this to initially look more like that game's key art without the white outline and paper texture...#... but honestly I think it looks a whole lot more perfect leaning in toward how modern Paper Mario's style looks!#You can consider this the definitive reference for my koopsona because I doubt I can top this #... well... that is until I inevitably draw her again #To think a few days ago I couldn't draw Koopas and now I've completely MASTERED it with this piece!!!

Prior to making the concept art, in spite of having been a huge Mario fan (And 'artist') as a smol lamb, I don't think I've ever actually drawn a Koopa Troopa, so this served as some good, long-overdue practice! You'll notice a few differences in her design which I touch on in its Image ID, and this particular art of her accentuates her rounder, more stout shell, mirroring my build in person.

And of course, we have the infamous 'Was that character really canon all this time' edit beneath it! This was actually an incredibly difficult edit to craft, mostly because it was almost impossible to find an image of Paper Mario's gameplay that was at its native resolution so I wouldn't have to guess. Luckily, I was able to find one and went straight into editing!

ALSO... A SHELL POWERUP IN SUPER STAR SISTERS IS NOW 1000% CANON. THAT'S GOING IN!!!!!
