Turtles Are Friends 🐢
26th of March 2015 was deffinetly a day the members of MICD Student Chapter
will remember as 35 of us had taken a little time off our busy schedules to visit
a turtle sanctuary in Teraping. The main objective of this visit was to spread
awareness and learn more about the endangered marine animal. In the
morning, we had a short talk and briefing about turtles. Shortly after, the
members were taken to a wide and open hall where we had re-used recycled
items such as stained glass and tin cans to make a mural/ collage of turtles.
It was a fun and exciting experience as we got to enchance our creativity and
teamwork skills. Later in the evening, the members had taken the opportunity to
do a quick clean up around the beach collecting trash and harmful items like
broken glass to avoid the turtles surfacing to the shore from getting hurt.
Also, we were lucky enough to witness a handful of hatchlings making it’s way
towards the sea. All in all, we had a wonderful time and hopefully we would
come back to visit our turtle friends! Definitely a visit to remember!
