This is really great. Relatable, powerful, and practicable. “Jesus Christ wants us to love and serve the poor more than we love and serve ourselves.” I have been thinking more about sharing my income now that (a) I have one and (b) I’ll be living independently soon. My concern is always that I don’t make a lot and I’m barely going to have enough to buy myself the comforts I want. Making extra to help others is going to mean real sacrifices. But Mr. Gormley here puts it in perspective. If I truly love someone else, I would rather serve them than serve myself.
