Who do you think mike is in deltarune?

pre-newsletter, we thought of him as basically the aspect of Tenna that can manipulate reality that Tenna gave a name and ascribed a personality to! An imaginary friend, basically. An idea that he derives comfort and support from that he felt was missing in the aftermath of spamton leaving alongside the fallout of Dess' disappearance. Tenna can, of course, still manipulate stuff, because ultimately Mike is just a part of him.

With the newsletter in mind, though, we've started to play with the idea of him as a kind of Stanley Parable Narrator deal. He's a disembodied presence until he needs a body to interact with someone or something, but the exact features and size and shape of that body are very fluid and hard to parse when interacting with him. Like, if Mike hands Tenna something, Tenna knows he sees a hand, but he can't articulate what the hand looks like. We think he's probably a very chill and laid-back guy to contrast and balance out Tenna's high strung nervousness. We also think he is, like any other TV World Darkner, very fond and sweet with Kris. Communal baby and all that.

Rn I'm thinking about the original Mike from deltarune and how I'm pretty the motherfucker is either the world's biggest introvert (in the sense that he hates socializing) or he has the worst case of social anxiety ever

And i think that's really fucking sad?? Because like, Mike disappeared (may have left or went missing) and 3 darkners went and started to pretend to be them, and no one seems to have realized that "mike" is now 3 darkners in a trenchcoat.

Because like, no one in the game seems to know who they are except for like, 2 people despite the fact that Mike is tenna's best friend and seems to be his right handman, the boss's Guy if you will.

Sure, tenna feels like something is off, but he still doesn't know, he doesn't fucking know.

If tenna hadn't gotten upset and mentioned mike when they disappeared, would anyone in tv world have noticed them missing? Did no one care about them?

It kinda reminds me of one of the goners' dialogues
