If Michael lost his polyglot abilities when he became unreadable, how is it that he can still understand Gloss and eavesdrop on the Rephaim?

Michael has regained the ability to understand Gloss now he’s recovered somewhat from the trauma that initially rendered him unreadable (though he finds it harder than before), but he can no longer speak the language himself. 

Similarly, Zeke still occasionally hears voices, as he did as a whisperer, but can no longer channel them into music. Unreadability usually manifests as a total loss of the old gift following the initial trauma, then a gradual reconnection, although, as far as Jaxon can tell, there is no way to reverse the process altogether.

In TBS, what talent do unreadables possess exactly? For example, Jax is elated when he’s able to recruit Zeke to the Seals, but I wasn’t entirely sure why. I understand he fancies himself a collector of rarer unnaturals, but is that the only reason he wanted Zeke? I love him and Michael as characters, but I’m curious how their clairvoyance operates.

Unreadables have no specific abilities, unless you count their super-strong dreamscapes, which Jaxon does. The process of becoming unreadable involves losing touch with their original gifts. Zeke used to be a whisperer and Michael used to be a polyglot.

Do Michael and Arcturus use a recognized form of sign language, or did they have to work out their own communication system?

They used Scion Sign Language (SSL).
