My trip back to Portland for a quick ‘hello’ to husband @jasonmampeldesign was mostly #CoVid19 and snow. (Well I may have squeezed in good internet and some great bread too). I’m sad there is so much uncertainty right now. This painting from last year, especially its title seems relevant to the moment. These kites are neither floating in the air where they want to be nor rolled up and packed away, snug and safe. They’re parked on the sidelines, awaiting further instructions. 🌞 I like to look for a sunny side in moments like this and honestly, the painting is a pretty happy one for me. Seeing kites in any context is cheerful to me and sun on the sand and water is just as uplifting. I hope you all are doing what you can to stay safe and healthy and finding the sun in all of this.
