OBJECT COMING SOON David Cook brings to the creative Triumvirate that is Object, a connoisseur’s eye, refined taste and an arts industry wide reputation for professional integrity. Within the art world, David’s opinions are greatly sort after and acted upon. David began his career in the Sydney, with the long established and reputable Rex Irwin Art Dealer, before establishing his own art gallery DC Art, in the late 1980s. Reflecting David’s ability to anticipate market trends - a trait for which his career has since been distinguished - DC Art specialised in showcasing the best of Modern British art. Exhibited artists included the Claude Flight school, Francis Bacon and Frank Auerbach. David was similarly attuned to developments in Contemporary Australian art. In 1996, David joined the prominent international auction house Christie’s as the national Head of Paintings. He oversaw the consignment and sale of multi-million-dollar art auctions, with much of his success grounded in an ability to develop genuine client relationships. When Christie’s closed its sale room operations in Australia 10-years later, David accepted the equally senior position of Deputy, Head of Art with Sotheby’s.
