Ok but like these girls are complaining that Michael didn't finish the set properly or they're making fun of him for getting burn??? Do you have a soul? Let me ask you this. Yall remember that one time he saw a fan with scars on her wrist? Yea? And guess what he did? HE FUCKING GAVE HER ONE OF HIS BRACELETS AS A SIGN THAT HE CARS FOR HER WELLBEING AND WANTS HER TO NOT SELF HARM ANYMORE. I don't know about you but that's some sweet ass thing to do to someone who you barely knew and yet, he does it anyway because he's a person with a huge heart. So why are yall making fun of him now that he potentially will have burn scars on his face? Why are you even complaining in the first place? If you got burnt, would you stop and drop everything you were doing and get some help? I BET YOUR FUCKING ASS YOU FUCKING WOULD. Please leave Michael alone. He's just a little nerd who likes to play guitar and kitties and games. He didn't hurt anyone. Why are you hurting him?

"You need to find help, Ashton"
chapter 1
Chapter 3
“It was honestly, the freakiest thing that ever happened to me,” Joy spoke, her arms waving around in an exaggerated way as her and her best friend Calum walked towards the cafeteria to get some lunch. It was Monday, first day of school after her bizarre weekend and Joy was telling Calum all about the boy.
Joy and Calum met 3 and a half years ago, when they started high school. They met in the women’s toilets as Calum accidentally walked into the room, not checking the sign on the door. It was 3 months into the freshman year and when Joy saw Calum walk inside, where she was washing her hands, she might screamed. He made her promise she won’t tell anyone, which was quite frankly pointless since she didn’t have any friends by that point. And after that, their friendship just kind of happened. Neither of them questioned it and both of them kind of went through high school, side by side. Everyone thought they were madly in love with each other but that just made them laugh.
As they walked inside the cafeteria, Calum spoke up, leading the way to their usual table. They both bring lunch with them from home, school’s food is disgusting. Plus, they end up sharing everything in the end so that’s also a bonus.
“Did he say anything at all to you?”
Joy scoffed at Calum’s question, pulling her lunch bag from her school bag and slamming it maybe too forcefully on the table.
“The asshole asked me for my name,” Joy exclaimed loudly, earning a few looks, which she just ignored, and unwrapped her sandwich, “Can you actually believe that?”
“This is so weird,” Calum retorted, pulling out a bag of chips from his bag and ripping it open. Joy nodded, taking a bite of her sandwich and almost moaning in the process. Her mother makes the best sandwiches ever. Seriously, ask Calum.
“I know and it’s so sad because he’s so hot,” Joy whined, making Calum roll his eyes. Joy laughed, knowing exactly how Calum would react to her statement, patting his head, making him duck away from her hand.
“Seriously, what is with you and touching my hair,” he whined, glaring at her slightly and she laughed again as somebody pulled out a chair next to her and sat down on it. Both Joy and Calum looked over to see Michael, the loner kid, sit down next to Joy.
“Hey guys,” Michael spoke quietly and they both muttered back a greeting, looking down at their lunch.
See, Michael was the loner of this high school. He didn’t really have friends or people he hung out with. He stuck to himself and spent most of the time by himself with his earplugs in, mostly sitting at the back of the classroom where the weird kids sat. He had unnaturally dyed hair, it was bright red at the moment, and had an eyebrow piercing. And nobody paid attention to him. Nobody teased him, nobody picked on him –which Joy was so happy about because she hates seeing kids get picked on because she can’t do anything about it, I mean, she’s like, 5’4, she couldn’t take down a fly if she tried- Michael was kind of just there, a wallflower that nobody dealt with.
But somehow, someway, he ended up sitting with them during lunch. Neither Joy nor Calum knew exactly how that happened but Joy believed it was because of that one time when Michael forgot his phone in the boys locker room and Calum returned it to him, that was the first time they actually saw Michael portray any sort of emotion whatsoever, in that particular event it was gratitude. And ever since, he sat with them during lunch. It always got slightly awkward when he sat down, usually already halfway into the lunch period, but Calum and Joy always quickly picked their conversation up where they left it off before Michael interrupted. He didn’t usually partake in the conversation so Calum and Joy figured it didn’t bother him if they talked like they normally did. And it really didn’t bother him.
As Michael picked on the pizza he got for lunch this time, Calum tore his gaze away from the red haired boy, looking back at Joy as he popped another chip in his mouth.
“So what are you going to do about that boy?” he asked and Joy shrugged, taking another bite of the sandwich.
“What do you mean? There isn’t anything to do about it,” she replied, scrunching up her eyebrows, “I probably won’t ever see him again, which is good.”
“Imagine if you did though,” Calum started, taking a sip of his water, “like, imagine if you just casually saw him walking around in your neighborhood,” he added and Joy almost spat out the chewed up sandwich in her mouth.
“Calum, honestly, shut up,” she responded with an unamused look, making Calum laugh.
After school was over for the day, Joy waited for Calum at her locker, typing away on her phone when it buzzed in her hand, indicating she got a text.
I’m picking you up from school today, there’s been another murder and I don’t want you walking around the town alone at the moment x
The text was from her mom and she groaned but replied with an ‘Okay’ and asking if they could drop Calum at his house on the way. She thought about the news she saw on TV on Friday night, about the man that was found in the alley. Was there actually a serial killer out on the loose? If there is, fuck.
“Hey, ready to go?” Calum’s voice brought her out of her thoughts and she jumped, slapping a hand on her chest.
“Jesus Christ,” she screeched, glaring at the brown haired boy who was currently almost dying on the floor. “Was that really necessary?”
“I literally just asked you if you were ready, it’s not my fault you’re a pussy,” Calum retorted with a wink and she rolled her eyes.
Calum was such an annoying little shit sometimes. There were times Joy wondered how they even got along, they were different in so many ways. For example, Calum was much more socially active then she was, he had his social skills boosted up to the heavens and he made friends quickly while Joy was mainly awkward and didn’t like being around too many people. She liked to spend her weekends inside, on her laptop watching her favorite shows and eat her body weight in Cocoa Puffs while Calum liked to go out on Friday nights, to parties or even clubs, whatever his heart desired, as long as he wasn’t inside his house all weekend.
But on the other hand, the pair was also really similar. Their personalities were quite almost the same, apart from the ability to make friends and being social in general. They were both kind of sarcastic and liked to laugh, they enjoyed the same TV shows and listened to the same bands and even dressed similarly, which was kind of inconvenient at times. One time, they came dressed in basically the same outfit to the school field trip, the only difference was that Calum’s black skinnies were obviously from the men’s section while Joy’s were from the female section. The Green Day shirt was the same and the black hoodie was also the same, they literally bought them together.
And Joy wonders why people think they’re ‘soulmates’ or whatever.
“Mom is picking us up today, apparently there was another murder and she’s going into her panic mode,” Joy spoke as they started walking towards the exit, moving out of the way from pushy teenagers that were desperately trying to leave this hell hole for the day.
“Great, I wasn’t really in the walking mood anyway,” Calum responded, making Joy nod because they’re basically never in the walking moods, ever.
As they waited for her mom to arrive to the school parking lot, Joy and Calum talked about what they did during the weekend, Calum doing most of the talking because he went to one of Jason Maze’s parties and those things either ended really badly or are the event people in school talk about for the next month or two. Basically until he plans another one. And this time, it was one hell of a time, apparently. That’s what Calum said, anyway.
“It was literally so cool, Elizabeth Snow was dancing around without her shirt on,” Calum explained enthusiastically and Joy rolled her eyes because Elizabeth danced partly naked on every party she attends, “Although, I think her boobs are fake.”
“You can be such a gossip girl sometimes, Calum,” Joy sighed because in all honesty, Calum sometimes gossiped way more than she ever did, and she’s a girl for crying out loud.
“It’s true, there’s no way they could stand up so well without a push up bra,” a thoughtful expression took over his features and Joy couldn’t believe she was having this conversation with her best friend.
“How do you even know how boobs look with or without a push up bra, you haven’t even kissed a girl Calum,” Joy snorted because that was actually true. Even though Calum was extremely good in everything that acquired like at least level one in social skills, he has never had a relationship or kissed a girl, for that matter. And Joy found that extremely weird because yes, Calum was her best friend and she loved him like he was her family or something, but she wasn’t afraid to admit that Calum was attractive. Which he really was.
“Joy, I know a real boob when I see one,” Calum said, putting his hand on Joy’s shoulder, “Or a pair.”
Joy rolled her eyes, shaking her head just in time when her mother’s car stopped in front of the pair. They both climbed into it, greeting her mom in the process and as quickly as her mom stopped the car, she sped away towards Calum’s house.
**
“Breaking news, another victim found, this time in the Avenue Park, 5 minutes away from the local high school. Police is investigating the murder as we speak, the Sheriff now 100% sure were dealing with someone who has had some experience with police and how to cover up evidence. That, or the person got lucky both times as there were no finger prints left on the murder weapon that was once again left on the crime scene. The police are tracking down the weapon but so far, they had no luck as the weapon is not registered in the system. Sheriff is afraid we might be dealing with a serial killer. We’ll keep you updated.”
“Holy shit,” Jack spoke as their dad changed the channel. Mom glared at him, saying a loud, “Language, mister!” making Jack roll his eyes. Joy just snickered from the side of the couch she was sitting on.
“This is getting serious,” their dad spoke, mom nodding her head in the process.
“I can’t believe stuff like this can happen in our little town,” she added to dad’s statement.
“I can’t believe the police can’t find the person in this small, god forsaken place,” dad retorted, shaking his head in disappointment as he stood up from the couch, “What a bunch of amateur assholes.”
“Chris!” mom gasped, making both the kids laugh as their dad rolled his eyes.
“What, it’s true! It’s not like there’s millions of us in this small rat hole, there’s only so many people that look like psychotic idiots,” dad yelled from the kitchen and wow, Joy thought, he was on a role today. He clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed, that’s for sure.
“They’re doing the best they can, you hearD the news,” mom stated, standing up from the couch herself and following after the 45 year old man, “he’s experienced.”
“Unlike those melons,” Joy could hear him reply and at that, Jack burst out laughing, making Joy shake her head in the process and laugh as well, high-fiving her brother. It was times like these that she really appreciated the fact that her parents weren’t some uptight people that read newspaper in the morning and forbid their kids to interact with people of the opposite sex. She could almost say her parents were cool. Almost.
The next morning, when Joy left the house for school, the air seemed a lot cooler and she wrapped her coat tightly around herself. She sighed in disappointment, scolding herself for not bringing a beanie with her. As she walked down the street, she spotted a familiar person on the other side of the street, walking out of one of the houses, not too far away from her own house. She almost froze as he looked at her, and surprisingly, he wasn’t smirking. He only smiled at her shyly, making her furrow her eyebrows. He almost looked like a completely different person.
He wasn’t wearing all black today, the only black piece of clothing he had on were his black skinny jeans. His shirt was grey, his jacket an army green color and his boots were normal, dark brown boots. She immediately noticed the lack of a bandana around his head. She literally couldn’t believe her eyes, he really did look like a completely different person. Even his posture was different, it wasn’t as straight as the other night. He was kind of slouching his shoulders, making him appear shorter and like he didn’t want any unwanted attention on himself.
As she stared at him, not really knowing what to think because this was too freaking strange, he walked across the street and stopped in front of her.
“Do I have something on my face?” he asked and Joy almost screamed because what the fuck, even his voice was different. It was more high-pitched then previous nights she talked to him.
“I uh- I mean- Um- No?” she stuttered and he smiled, dimples forming. She never noticed those dimples and she almost cooed at him. They made him look so cute which came in contrast with what he looked and acted like on Saturday evening.
“I’m Ashton, by the way,” he spoke, Joy still not believing how different his voice sounded, as he extended his arm out, inviting hers to shake it. She looked down at his hand, studying it for a few seconds before she reluctantly shook it, looking back up at him.
“J-Joy,” she introduced herself and what the hell, did she suddenly develop a stuttering problem? Get your shit together, Joy.
“Are you new here? I haven’t seen you around before,” Ashton spoke and she once again furrowed her eyebrows.
Okay, seriously, this kid was strange as hell. This whole thing made no sense. Either he’s fucking with her mind or she’s kind of crazy and she imagined those two nights in her head. It’s either one or two but she wasn’t sure which one was it yet.
And also, she was sure her imagination couldn’t just picture someone as hot as him. No way.
“I’m not new, I’ve lived here my whole life,” she replied, her voice hesitant, eyebrows furrowed. “Are you new?”
“Oh no, I’ve lived here since I was 14 which makes it 6 years now,” he spoke, stuffing his hands into the jacket pockets. Joy studied him for a few seconds before huffing out an uncertain ‘Huh’ making him nod his head with a small smile. They stayed quiet for a few moments, Ashton looking around awkwardly and Joy staring at him with a confused expression on her face. She really couldn’t tell what was wrong with this kid but in all honesty, she liked him better today than those two nights she’d met him before.
“Are you going to school?” he asked suddenly, snapping Joy out of her train of thought making her nod her head before she cried out a loud “Oh fuck!”, pulling out her phone from her jeans pocket. She checked the time before she slapped her forehead with her hand, “I’m gonna be late for class.”
“I’ll take this as a yes, then” Ashton spoke, making her laugh slightly before she started speeding down the road.
“I’ll see you around, Ashton,” she called out before rounding a corner, leaving Ashton standing alone in the middle of the street, smiling like an idiot.
He liked her already.
