If you don't want your toddler to mess up something of yours, then put it in a safe place where they can't get it. Like put it on a high shelf that they can't reach, or padlock it in a drawer. Exercise common sense. Do *not* physically assault your toddler for expressing curiosity, and then complain that your hand hurts. Hands are for loving, not hurting.
