My (Michelle Levy’s) journey to publication wasn’t always smooth sailing. I queried two previous manuscripts before Not After Everything, and I think the grand total of rejections over all three manuscripts was somewhere around 150. Yep. One hundred and fifty agent rejections.

So when I got that email. The one asking to schedule a phone call I was like

And then when my amazing agent offered to take me on as a client I was like

  And let me tell you something. I think after all those nos from all those agents, that yes from my agent meant so much more than if I had received only ten or twenty rejections. I felt like I had conquered something insurmountable.

  And then, after doing a round of revisions, my agent was ready to send it out on submission. So I braced myself for another round of rejections.

  But after only two days on submission, my agent called to tell me that there was serious interest and that there would probably be an offer on Monday.

  And it happened! And I was all

  But after the deal was made came the waiting.

  And then even more waiting.

  And how about some more waiting?

  So when my edit letter finally came I was more than ready to get to work on the revisions!

  And then my editor moved to Australia to be with her husband. It was completely unexpected and it kind of threw me for a loop. I wasn’t sure what happened now.

 But as soon as I talked to my new editor I was relieved and even more excited than I had ben before. She had some fantastic suggestions! In fact as I read her notes I was like OMG yes!

  Why didn’t I think of that?

  We were totally on the same page.

  And then, I’m not even kidding, there was more waiting.

  Until I got to see my cover!

  Then came the ARCs!

  It was time for reviews to start coming in, so every time my email chimed I

  But the reviews were good!

Really good!

  But let me tell you, the weeks leading up to the release were torture. I went through every emotion about four thousand times.

  I had a hard time sleeping because I was so nervous and excited for my book to be out in the world.

  And then it finally released!

  And now it belongs to all of you!

  And I hope you all love it! Because
