idk if i'm literally the only one with this problem but do you ever get very annoyed at like 3 people in the leverage fandom? like everyone's chil *expect* them?
In general, the Leverage fandom is awesome and chill. Of course, not everyone is gonna agree and that’s their right to. As nice as it would be if everyone would be chill, I’m happy enough that 99% of it is.
Fandom is fandom, which means that everyone processes things differently. For most, expressing fandom is generally flailing happily about whatever aspects of a work that makes them happy. But for others, their fandom process includes shitting on aspects of a work that others like but that they may not.
Having been in fandom circles for damn near longer than I think a majority of my followers have been alive (yes, I’m old enough to be Fandom Aunt to most,) I’ve seen it in many different forms and I wish I could understand why it’s a thing.
I have no idea why that’s a thing but it is.
I have a rule that I try very hard to honor: don’t yuck someone else’s yum so long as that yum is consensual. (Of course, there are certain things I draw the line at, including non-con, TERFs, racist, homophobic, etc. Basically, if someone’s yum shows that they are a problematic asshat, I’ll definitely side-eye that shit.) I also try to follow my own corollary to that rule: don’t engage with those that would yuck someone else’s yum. Let them process as they will, even if I don’t agree. If I see something that makes me raise my eyebrows in any fandom, I’ll usually unfollow if I see a pattern in someone’s posts.
If I get dragged into something, that’s different, but I’m too old/busy/cranky/etc. to engage, honestly. As it is, life is far too short and everything in 2020 is too crazy to dwell too much on how someone else processes something I happen to love.
