Not My Type | Alright | Cute | Adorable | Pretty | Gorgeous | LORD MERCY
I still have yet to spend money on F/GO, but Rin in that Ishtar outfit really tempted me.
michigrim replied to your post: Battler started crying. Take a shot.
He lost his stepmom dude
Oh Iām not saying itās not valid. Just starting a drinking game is all.
michigrim replied to your post: So uh why⦠why is Agartha so reviled, exactly?
For being horny
Okay, so... itās just egregiously horny? Because I was under the impression some genuinely offensive stuff happened.

frommetrunui: If I can share my personal experience, Fallout 3 for me
Fallout was indirectly this for me, because I learned of Fallout from an older gaming cousin of mine who, in turn, learned of Fallout by pure accident when his mom picked the wrong game for him at the store, and he ended up loving it (Fallout 1).
michigrim: This is how I ended up buying Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines back in 2004
OH GOD, DUDE, MASQUERADE.
This is the exact same experience a friend at school had, and that kickstarted his horror pseudo-goth phase, I shit you not, I have A LOT of fond memories of Masquerade Bloodlines for a lot of reasons.
tonberrycrunch: what absolute dregs did you end up with through this method?
OH MAN, MANY, MANY, but the one I want everyone to know of?
This absolute dumpster fire of a game.
NEVER play this. Itās not evenĀ āfunny terribleā, itās just straight up Bad. The single most boring and uninteresting game Iāve ever played.
Fun Fact: This game has INCREDIBLE voice acting. The localization team apparently saw at this steaming pile of shit they were handed, and, you know, it was in the U.S. Anime Boom era, so EVERYTHING was being localized, and they saidĀ āwell this sucks, letās just blow the whole budget on great voice actorsā and they got a TON of top-of-the-line voice talent on it, so playing the English version of Mimana Iyar Chronicles is jarring because literally everything is terrible, except the voice acting, which is hilariously over-competent.
michigrimĀ replied to yourĀ post:Ā In hindsight, Sabatonās fucking weird Because To...
Isnāt that inherently the problem with most war media in general where even if the message is that it sucks people will think itās awesome?
Kinda, yeah. Battles are exciting. Brutal ones even more so. So really, the most effective means of being anti-war or anti-military is to just dispense with that stuff altogether. Itās possible to make an effective movie, it just requires avoiding anything resembling satisfying action. People are moved by sacrifice and enduring horrors as long as thereās victory in the end.
Heavy metal, in my opinion, is an entire genre that is completely inappropriate for anything about warĀ butĀ glorifying it. Itās like trying to make an anti-war action movie: the genre requires excitement. And thatās not something you should feel when talking about how āno triumph will we reap, where crosses grow on Anzio, and hell is six feet deep.ā
I really love the fact that the thing that makes the Boss better than Big Boss could ever be is that she was willing to sacrifice herself for others as opposed to Big Boss who was willing to sacrifice others for his ideals. The lesson that Big Boss fails to learn from both the Boss's death in MGS3 and Peace Walker's sacrifice is that the Boss's greatest virtue was pure selflessness in spite of global politics. The true tragedy of the series is the failure to learn this lesson.
Can you imagine being so charismatic, so wise, and so selfless that, upon realizing that things canāt go on like this, that your end is near, and that you must sow the seed that is your successor on the barren land of the modern world, hoping that theyāll carry out what you tried so hard to achieve by virtue of action and example, you willing become the lamb in the ultimate sacrifice just for the chance of opening the road forward to this seed? Maybe, perhaps, inspire others in the way so they too dedicate themselves to this greater ideal that this sordid world sorely needs?
And can you imagine being so unfortunate that, despite everything, despite everything you taught, everything you did, your message becomes so twisted and misinterpreted that it ends up directly creating market-based artificial proxy wars based on the war prize of any given warzone, where being a soldier and joining a PMC to take part in this desensitized game that war has become is seen as the ideal thing to do? And that the seed you sowed, your successor, the one that you poured everything into and who was meant to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of your sacrifice, who was meant to take this message and make the best of it, twists and misinterprets you so badly that he instead takes to inscribing yourĀ āredemptionā in letters of fire, ironically creating the hell world you wanted to prevent in the first place, except ten times worse? And that someone you inspired unintentionally twists and misinterprets your message so badly that he directly creates the aforementioned desensitized war game in addition to propagating and normalizing complete control of every single aspect of any given human through nanomachine technology without any regard as to what may happen if someone were to crack through this security system, which very much happens?
Can you imagine telling your most trusted protege,Ā āStop desensitizing and glorifying warfare, as war should only ever be a tool to reach peaceā and that resulting in someone desensitizing and glorifying warfare, making it a market game?
End of the day, thatās why Solid Snake is the one to finally put this to an end: He understood this. Snake and Boss never once traded words, but he got it, by the stars, he got it. Itās such poetic justice that the clone of the man himself with an expiration date, a ticking biological bomb of a person who has no idea when it is heāll expire or when is it heāll kill everyone around him due to this nanomachine virus they implanted in him, the person that has been manipulated over and over and over, the person that has every right to be even more bitter than Big Boss and every reason to be a vile villain who could take it out on the world is the one that works towards the elimination of Metal Gears on his own private time, with what little of life he has left, and that ultimately leads to the elimination of this system. Itās poetic, itās cathartic, and itās heart-rending, in various ways, to see that every single place Big Boss failed, Snake triumphed, and that the person who wasnāt even born yet was, indeed, the one who carried out the Bossā true legacy without even meaning to, correcting the mistakes of two men who dedicated their lives to carry it out and yet ended up misinterpreting it to the detriment of the world.
