Kiruko’s gender identity is a hot topic to be sure and the story is still ongoing so there’s still more to be developed and I think the author purposefully left the gender identity itself open to interpretation from fans. I say the gender identity because it’s pretty obvious kiruko is not cis in any way but in way non-cis way kiruko is, what kiruko identifies with as someone who is not cis, is either something they’re still working through, or simply left open to the viewers.

Because the thing with japanese is that it doesn’t really have as complex a pronoun system as english. They have the first person pronoun that the user themselves use like boku or watashi or ore but that’s more flexible then the he/she/they in english. As in, while it’s more likely for boys to use boku and ore, it’s still not really out of the norm for a girl to also use them, as it’s more of an indentifier or masculinity/femininity then it is for genders itself.

All this to say, kiruko’s gender, as it is at the time of this post, is left very open to interpretations, with the exception of just “cis”.

Personally, I see kiruko as xgender or nonbinary. They don’t seem to stress over the sex of their body as much as the fact that they’re just *in* a different, new body now. And I personally would like for this to be the case because I don’t like the idea that someone is a girl just because they happen to be transplanted into the body of one. That just feeds into the transphobic and terf rhetoric of “oh well if you have boob and vagina then you’re a girl”.

I think kiruko is exactly what their name entails: a combination of kiriko and haruki. They have aspects of both but they are neither of those people now, they’re someone entirely different. Neither a boy or a girl, maybe some combination of that, but also neither of it.

I think this would also be really fun once they talk more with michika in the future and michika explains the whole thing with their gender and biology again and kiruko goes like “oh yeah me too! I’m not a boy or girl either :DD”

Michika and Milo are playing hide-and-seek and Milo, instead of finding Michika, finds a half black half white bunny, who is Michika, who has been hit by a BDA somehow or just got turned into a bunny by oc logic.

“M-Michi..?” Milo calls out, searching for her friend adoptive cousin.

The 2 girls are playing hide and seek and Milo still has yet to find Michika.

She’s searched all around the interior of her Aunts’ and Uncle’s mansion but still hasn’t found Michika.

‘Maybe she’s outside..?’ Milo wonders then she runs into her Aunt Asai, who’s hanging out with Milo’s mama.

“Are you still looking for her?” Yuna asks curiously and Milo nods.

“Don’t worry hun, you’ll find her!” She says encouragingly, noticing Milo’s growing frustration.

“Yeah, you’ll find her sweetheart.” Asai says with a smile as she gently pats Milo’s head.

Milo smiles then goes outside to look for Michika.

She doesn’t find Michika, but instead she finds a cute, fluffy bunny.

What Milo hasn’t realized yet, as she excitedly picks up the bunny, is that the bunny is Michika.

Michika had been hit by a blood demon art so that’s why she’s like this.

Milo is squealing as she hugs the bunnyfied Michika.

“You’re so fluffy!” She exclaims excitedly then holds Michika out at arms-length and her eyes widen when she recognizes Michika’s eyes.

“W-wait, Michi..?!” She exclaims, very shocked.
