I like to think that once upon a time Hizashi and Shouta were alone in the teacher’s lounge, just working on things together. Class plans, grading papers, whatever whatever. They talk and discuss, some professional, some casual, and after a while it goes quiet. Aizawa assumes that, okay, Hizashi is just focused on work. But it’s weird, because even then he usually never stops talking. Never stops moving. So when he looks up, Hizashi just has this… eerily neutral, still expression on his face. Not sad, or particularly upset. But you can see how tired he is. It’s sort of scary, because he never looks that way. And the only reason he looks like that now is because he thinks no one is watching. Does Shouta say anything? No, not yet. Because he has no idea what to say, and he doesn’t feel great about it. So he pretends he never saw at all and continues grading away.
