A number of years ago, I used to write and record music on a Tascam 4-track machine. Mostly this was for fun, although some songs eventually got played out in various (unsuccessful and shortlived) bands I was playing in. For no particular reason (ie. bone-idleness), I stopped doing this in around 2008 and have found myself in somewhat of a creative cul-de-sac ever since.
Recently, however, I've become interested in finding a portable, digital recording device to jot down ideas and, yesterday, I bit the bullet and purchased the Boss Micro BR-80. Basically, it's an 8-track recorder that's smaller than my hand, complete with drum loops and guitar effects.
It's early days, but I think I'm falling for it. What's more, it's a piece of cake to start using and the features are built to be super-intuitive, even/especially for the dull of mind (moi).
So enamoured am I, that I spent this afternoon dodging the sunlight and putting down a cover of Weezer's ever-green 'Jamie'. Here's to new loves...x
