Family Hub™ Multi-door Fridge Freezer, 550L
This is the Samsung Smart Fridge.
I have a Samsung Smart Fridge!
2 years ago my parents decided they’d had enough of our single door refrigerator and after minimal deliberation, excitedly spent £4,000 on this bad boy.
Its been surreal. At first we loved it but soon imperfections started popping up and frankly, my technology simpleton mum just doesn’t use the “smart” aspect.
The labelling function just doesn’t work in real life because we move items about too much. If everyone stuck to an arranging system, this wouldnt be an issue, but its time to face the music; in the 21st century, cooking is an annoying interval comparable to a power outage.
Checking what’s in the fridge: it’s all fun and games if you can work the app. We’re an iPhone household: maybe the app is better on Android but on iPhones it is a complete unintuitive nuisance. Ive used it 3 times.
The human centred design aspect is non existent. Every time my dad goes near the thing he walks away sadder. He is so disappointed in his investment that he uses cognitive dissonance as a coping strategy to deny that he believed in sticking a screen on a fridge.
We use the radio every day & we like to leave notes. Every once in a while I’ll do a seasonal doodle. When it comes to guests it absolutely steals the show. Highly recommend for people with social anxiety because this thing, just being in the kitchen, will keep the conversation going for hours. People have gone on steam, watched make-up tutorials, and played a variety of drawing games on the whiteboard.
Lest we forget; as a refrigerator, it’s absolutely state of the art.
