I'm going off the chemo treatment now! It's finally time! 🥳
Well, it's more like switching one problem for another. But still.

Hey there :) I was just wondering if you had any followers with microscopic polyangiitis who also feel a bit lonely out there with nobody else on tumblr that I've seen have it. Or with any related vasculitis disease? Thank you for the signal if you decide to publish this :)
I don’t know of anyone off the top of my head, but hopefully people will see this and you can get some patient networking going!
The prednisone dosage has been lowered and I've lost enough fluid to wear my rings again so yay! However the tiny immune system has decided that the skin of the hands are the enemy so it's killing my skin 😐
It's now 2 years ago I was hospitalised and diagnosed with microscopic polyangiitis, a type of vasculitis autoimmune disease. To celebrate another year of survival, I got another tattoo!
Also I'm going to donate some money to the Vasculitis Foundation to help with the research and hopefully one day the cure for any and all vasculitis diseases, or at least better treatment options.
If you want to help out or give me a belated birthday gift, you can donate here.
Thanks :)
If you want to know more about what happened, I wrote a relatively short post about the initial month here
Coincidentally, May is vasculitis awareness month so I'll try to write some posts about vasculitis in general and microscopic polyangiitis in particular since the disease is pretty much unheard of even within the medical world.
So I intended to write posts about vasculitis and microscopic polyangiitis for this vasculitis awareness month, but as fate would have it, my microscopic polyangiitis decided to flare up this month and I lost an additional 10% kidney functionality and extreme nerve pain so I have been on extra heavy medication and not very active here.
I guess that counts as an information post of microscopic polyangiitis
Joining the microscopic polyangiitis support group was very helpful and informative, but damn if it isn't depressing and discouraging too. I try to not speculate how much time I have left on earth or what more fuckery awaits in the future, but every visit at the forum is a punch in the guts

Herein, we discuss silica exposure and the risk of ANCA‐associated vasculitis (AAV), particularly in terms of work‐related diseases.
Silica exposure is a notorious risk factor for developing AAV, which is potentially lethal when not identified.
Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a primary systemic vasculitis commonly known as antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)‐associated vasculitis (AAV), characterized by inflammation of small‐sized blood vessels and serum positivity of ANCA.
Patients with MPA typically present with pulmonary, kidney, and neurologic manifestations.
Although the definitive pathophysiology of MPA is still not fully understood, certain factors such as drugs, bacteria, and dust exposure are known to trigger the development of this disorder.
