goals for the rest of 2011
As exciting as the first half of 2011 was, I have eventually come to realize that my social life is a joke; at least, it would be a joke, if I had one in the first place. Upon that discovery, I have decided to set a few goals for the rest of July, on through the rest of the year in hopes of reviving my poor, dead social life (I never even gave it a chance, once I graduated from high school. for shame).
1. Curse Less
I curse wayyy too much. From crap to f*, they come out after bad beats, after encountering LA drivers driving like... well, LA drivers, after bad grades or time constraints, even during normal conversations, I curse, and I curse, and I curse. That makes me look ill-mannered and hot-tempered (of course, with the infamous drivers of LA, who can blame me) and unfriendly to talk to. I need to cut it out, or at least cut the frequency of its use.
2. Get Out of My Socially-Awkward Bubble
Mommy used to tell us not to talk to strangers; however, in order to make new friends and meet new people, sometimes you have to break the rules and hope that mommy doesn't find out. I never talk to people, whether in classrooms or at social events (however, I do speak when I am spoken to; I just find it too awkward to talk first), and that needs to change. It makes me look stuck up, and that's not good. I need talk to more people, even if it means getting out of my comfort zone.
3. Maintain My Relationships
After the semester is said and through, I usually lose contact with the people that I'd met. I need to try to keep in contact with them, which again is leaving my comfort zone. I also need to try to open myself up to the friends that I already have so that I don't lose them due to a lack of communication.
That's easy. Three goals. I should be able to do this. I have to keep myself optimistic about this, because as easy as they sound, those are three of my biggest issues. I really need to try and step out of my comfort zone to be able to achieve these goals, but I know that I can do this! I can change myself (socially) for the better! Wish me luck, please - I'll be needing plenty of it.
