This beautiful little girl had open heart surgery less than 24 hours before this photo was taken. When asked why she was up so quickly, she replied her Hello Kitty slippers make everything better.
That little girl is fucking adorable.

Paperman
If Disney made more 2D films or shorts like this I it would make me so happy. ‘Wreck-it Ralph’ was a great film, but having ‘Paperman’, one of the most beautiful things Disney has ever produced as the animated short in front. Perfect. If you missed this gem in theaters it’s now on youtube.
Beautiful!
It starts today: game on.

Expiration Date
As summer draws to an end, I always am bombarded with one thing: birthdays. A lot of my high school friends were born in the second half of the year, namely, in August. As August rolls around and birthday wishes are given (and received), I can't help but to think about the friends I've lost. Lives that were just beginning that ended too quickly, too soon. Juan was the first to go. If I remember correctly, his birthday was in June or July. Or maybe it was January or December. I can't remember correctly; but I do remember going to some of his birthday parties in elementary school. He was a fun guy, we used to play with each other during recess. I remember that our little group of friends would play Star Wars and stuff, back before I knew what Star Wars even was. Time went by, and we were separated into different classes in the fifth grade. I don't really remember much of middle school, but in high school, we had a few classes together. He and our other friend from the Star Wars days, Joseph, always joked about starting a band in world geography and driver's ed our freshman year. Eight years ago, in our sophomore year of high school, I had no classes with him. I still would talk to him at lunch sometimes when I hung out with their group (I was going through my everything-I-wear-is-black-like-my-soul stage), he was still one of my buddies. I went to a church conference that year, Tsunami. It's always held after Christmas but before the new year, a fun thing. As we were on our way home on New Year's Eve, I got a phone call from my then best friend. She never really called me, since we were growing apart due to said black-like-my-soul phase, and it kind of surprised me. Her tone caught me off guard; she told me that Juan had passed away earlier that morning. I was shocked. 14 at the time, I didn't know how to react. I didn't cry, I didn't hug anyone - I was in shock. No one that I was close to that was my age had died before. I remember his funeral. I sat with my friends. I hadn't cried about it before, but as soon as they started going through his pictures, I couldn't help but let some of it out. This was my friend. My buddy. We used to play together, and now he was laying, lifeless, in a casket in the front of the church. His mom was bawling. This was different; she had always been happy, smiling and laughing. It was the first time I had ever seen her cry. It was heartbreaking - her baby had gone to be with the Lord. I don't know why I did it, but I went to the casket and saw his body. It's taken me years to forget what he looked like, laying in that casket. I literally mean years. I don't remember how he looked in there now, thank God. I remember being in shocked. The body didn't look like the one that belonged to my friend. The skin was puffy and pale - he was always a medium brown color. His hair was covered by a gray beanie. He was dressed so casually. The person in the casket wasn't my friend. It was a capsule that once contained the soul of my friend. I don't know why he died. We know that he was ill, it's been rumored to have been leukemia. According to the rumor, he'd been having lots of bloody noses and migraines, and that night, the 30th, they were just done celebrating for the new year when he decided to retire early because he wasn't feeling too great. His parents tried to wake him up for some reason or another that same night, but he wouldn't wake up. They took him to the hospital (or did they call an ambulance, since he was unconscious and unresponsive?) and according to the rumor, did something with his head (probably trying to monitor brain activity, which would explain the beanie) and declared him dead. Nobody had thought or known that he was ill. His parents probably just thought that he wasn't feeling well. Nobody was suspicious about the headaches or nosebleeds. It was just... one day he was here, and the next day, he was gone. As one of a few friends that I've lost, Juan's death really made a big impact on me. No one knows how much time you have on this earth. Rich, poor, young, old - every person has an expiration date, and only God knows when you expire. From his short life, I learned to live it to the fullest and to have no regrets. Juan was always pretty happy and super kind, so I always try to stay positive and help in whatever ways that I can. I might slip sometimes, but if I die tomorrow, I don't want to be remembered as the super angry girl. I'd rather be remembered like Juan is: a smart, caring, happy young man. I know he is smiling down from heaven with some other friends, and for them, I try to smile back. Miss you, Juan. See you again someday.
