PROMPT FIVE: an average day on hi-u
Hi-U is Han Seowon’s most used app, with an average of two hours daily. He runs this shit like the navy. A subscription to him on Hi-U is a guarantee that you will get your money’s worth.
Seowon’s use of the messaging function is said to be a lot like how a boyfriend messages his girlfriend, petnames and all. Sodapop’s activities as a group is barely mentioned, except during comeback periods where he’ll promote their music. It’s a lot more casual: greetings, usually in the late morning, updates of what he’s doing with the members as if it’s a friend group you’re a part of, doting reminders, and a long paragraph detailing his gratitude for you being in his life.
On most days, the conversations sound a lot like this:
서원: i’m about to eat lunch. don’t forget to eat your meals today, honey~ 서원: i miss you so much right now. ㅜ.ㅜ 서원: but you know i miss you even when you’re here, right? 서원: TT what should we do? yk, there’s a fansign soon. i’ll be waiting for you.
Seowon’s artist tab on the Sodapop community wall is also mostly organized. Texts are never spammed, and he’s not chaotic on the app by any means. What is this, Twitter? Come on. He’s not the best friend member. It’s mostly pictures– more boyfriend-like than the selcas he posts on Sodapop’s official account or his own Instagram. The picture, if Seowon ends up only taking one that he likes, is often coupled with a cute animal picture or a meme, captioned something simple. It’s a little like he’s asking his fans to fill in the spaces themselves with the set of pictures; their own freedom to make their own scenarios of him, of them with him.
He tries to go on live as much as he can, but it’s guaranteed that Seowon Space is once every two weeks on Sunday afternoons. The average livestream starts off with him trying his very best to be a mukbanger, showing off a snack or lunch. Then, Seowon takes song recommendations from the comments to play in the background, talking to his fans while he does so. He shares stories during these lives, but oftentimes, it ends up being him being a motivational speaker. It’s meant to be a space for the fans to feel heard by him, either through him reading passing comments or giving them advice. Sometimes, he gets the Sodapop boys to join in or cameo for a few minutes, too, and it’s double the treat.
Obviously, he takes this boyfriend image very seriously. What’s so wrong about feeding into parasocial relationships?
