It's been delivered!! I can finally show the secret project!! Aptly named Project Midnight, my average time of day that I was working on this quilt was around 11pm-1am. Total hours: 132, all machine worked except the final binding side. I hope the details come through. This is a custom wedding quilt commissioned by one friend pair for another friend pair's wedding; and we got Custom with it!
🌌
All fabrics are metallic except the grunge background mountains, hand picked by the gifter. I used Janome's Artistic Digitizer to design and embroider the wedding couple's initials and wedding date on the center diamond. Also, embroidered my friend's names (the gifters if you will) on the back. I got very lucky with its positioning, I could encompass their signature in a cloud and didn't run it over with mountain lines.
🌌
Some clouds are in silver thread, others in the navy that was used to secure the blue mountains and center lake. Grey thread on the grey mountain and a tan thread on the crème/gold fabric. And I have to toot my own horn, I am In. Love. with the way the mountain tops came out. They were so fun, on the first one, and then... I remembered, I had to mirror them for some semblance of theme/imagery as if the center lake was reflecting the top 1/3rd of the quilt. AAh hahah we made it though!!
The pattern is Sisters Quilt by Alderwood Studio.
🌌
Also, if you're viewing this on Facebook, I'm going to put some funny BTS pics in the comments cus when I was first ironing this fabric back in December, I was absolutely panicked about how much backing fabric their was... and couldn't grasp the scale until the top was done, def needed every inch. Makes sense now why the half squared rectangles were so cumbersome to cut.
🌌
Shout out to my cats who totally helped.
