It is a reference to this old man having a club, a la The Flintstones.
Because they lived in Bedrock… and they were cave men…. You get it.

Ron: It'll take 6 hours to get home.

In hobo slang, the bulls refers to railway security, the hobo's natural predator. I also found out the different kinds of homeless vagrants: Tramps work when forced, Bums don't work at all, and Hobos are wandering workers.
