MIDNIGHT SKY
SHE LOVES HALLOWEEN. though, fair, there isn’t a single holiday out there that friday doesn’t love. maybe chuseok a little less—seeing as it’s more often a weekend of uncomfortable dinners from mom and dad’s side. but halloween? halloween is lovely. positively fun. one night in a whole year where you can pretend to be someone you’re not? seems perfect.
but if she’s honest, this year’s costume is—less than inspired.
it’s her fault, evidently. she’s never been particularly good at time management when in a crunch. when a project so much as holds her attention span hostage from anything else. this month, it was whittling the perfect wand base. or, at least, deciding which it was that she wanted. which, sixteen designs and splintered and cut fingers later, friday is proud to say that she still hasn’t decided.
amazing.
so when night of the mausoleum rolled by and her original idea was less than ready (where did her shruken head roll off to?), she had to resort to, well, bullshitting. which was fine, she supposes. she’s gotten enough compliments and the purple splotches across her face was both creative and cute enough for the night. could it have been better? yes. is she a teeny tiny bit disappointed? yes.
but there’s no use crying over spilt milk is there?
well, it didn’t matter anyway. within the first hour she’s already managed to down herself a couple of drinks and worked a pleasant buzz out of it before hopping from friend group to friend group. and now, fresh out of the dreadful (fun, but, so bad for her heart) haunted house, she and seojun stands in complete silence while in queue for the carriages. perhaps just, at this point, processing what just went down in the haunted house.
“so,” friday sniffles, hand lifting to pat her cheeks dry from any tears shed earlier. “you were totally scared, weren’t you? i saw you.” well, sort of. still, it doesn’t mean she can’t work up a semi-joking, semi-accusatory tone just to mess with him.
“you yipped. you’re a yipper!”
