Top Russian men’s skater with insane charisma and jumping power (think ilia malinin jumps x Jason brown expression) versus top Canadian men’s skater with craaaazy precision and grace (bit like yuzuru hanyu) but with the on-ice charisma of Bradie Tenell (nonexistent). instead of games they’re meeting at competitions, starting at junior nationals 🙂‍↕️

I don’t want it to end up being a copy paste of heated rivalry in a different sport so I’m still brainstorming ways to flesh it out in my own way!

I'd ask you this on Discord but I'm currently on a hiatus from it. Do you have any ideas on how I could flesh out Abby as a character in my FNAF rewrite? Her story isn't 1 to 1 with the movie but it has similar elements. I figured you could do her better justice than I could haha

Sorry for the late response. Didn't get notificated til now. But hm ... I think there's a lot you can work with. I think it really depends what story you're going with, but I've written a lot of AUs with her where she's the main focus and it can still go strong. So, here's what I keep in mind:

Her dynamics with the characters, ghosts & people alike.

What makes a character great is how they interact with other people. Abby has a lot of characters she can have really cool dynamics with. Cassidy (aka Golden Boy) and Charlotte are one of them! Vengeful ghosts seeking friendship with a lonely girl from a troubled background? Awesome.

There's also her relationships with Mike, Vanessa, Jeremiah, Dr. Lillian and Daniel. All of which are different. You can see how she acts around certain people, how she deals with certain things, etc. Honestly, my favorite thing about writing her has to be her relationships. Also give her conflict. Thats what I always do!

2. Her personality

A lot of people kinda just write her as a happy, go-lucky kid. And she is. Abby is kind-hearted, creative, naive and a little reckless but she can also be stubborn, maybe a bit cold sometimes. Abby has flaws and fears just like everyone else. Also I think a lot of people write kid characters as completely oblivious or acting way younger than they are.

3. Her doing stuff on her own

What I do when I write her is that I always try to get her to do something by herself. Something to explore who she is without anyone else in the picture. I do this a lot in my AUs and it's a fun way to understand who she is by herself.

I think the movies did a decent job with this. She's not just a little kid tethered to Mike and just meanders around with nothing to do. I think you just gotta add onto that and change what fits your story! I hope this is what you were looking for. :')
