What jokes do you think Tally would tell to break up the tension between Abigail and Raelle? What about when Scylla is around? I just know Tally would rather they laugh than fight or silent tension.

OH! I think w/ Abigail and Raelle it’s less about jokes and more talking to fill the tense silence? The first kind of mutual agreement between Abigail and Raelle is that they both really like Tally and how she can go on for hours about her life on the matrifocal compound as well as just carry conversations with the least effort in the world. It gets them sharing stories about each other and just talking on a very simple and baby-steps level.

WITH SCYLLA AROUND, I imagine it’s a lot of glaring between her and Abigail with a classic Tally Craven nervous giggle accompanied by one of my all-time opener jokes: 

“So uh, hey guys, do you know what a polar bear weighs?” 

“... I don’t know, like, 800 pou--”

“ENOUGH TO BREAK THE ICE.” 

Cue really awkward silence followed by a pity chuckle from Raelle.

Have you read the script for episode one? Did you see the part that May, Tally’s mother is yelling from the other side of the door before Tally says the oath about “you and your sister”... have we talked about this yet?

WE HAVEN’T! But I wouldn’t be surprised if they ultimately decided against letting Tally have a sister so that they could more heavily focus on Tally as an individual in direct parallel comparison with Raelle and Abigail as opposed to also having a sister on the side to kind of... sway and motivate the way we see her. Being the last remaining member of her line and still choosing to join the army is a really big part of Tally’s strength, I think. It kind of rounds her out and drives home the fact that she’s dedicated to do good even if that means being the last of her line to do it. Giving her a sister would’ve made that aspect of her just a lil duller-- so I’m not too shocked that her sister was written out in the final script.

I’m a Raylla shipper but Tally gives the best hugs! No one can fight me on this.

I really enjoy your work and was wondering if you're doing prints that we can purchase?

First things first: Thanks for caring enough to say you’ve been enjoying my work! This is a really great question, so I want to share the answer with everyone:There’s been a small delay in getting set up with a store, but prints are coming along soon. I’ll announce the store here, on my website (katetrish.com), and on Twitter when the time comes. 

It’s worth noting, however, that I won’t be selling fan art– and I do realize that’s what most or all of you would care to buy. I hate to disappoint, but I don’t want to set up that expectation when I say that the store is coming. While I understand that many people do sell fan art, I’m not personally comfortable with the idea or willing to dive into the legality of it. I will, however, be selling some fun-and-fantastical digital work.
