Cynder had no idea what was going on, one minute she and Kaleb were just witting around, watching movies and joking around, and then he started coughing, and little speckles of blood came up and landed on his arms. Their eyes both wide, Kaleb just kept coughing, and coughing and more and more blood came up with every single body wrenching noise he made. She called for his dad, tears rushing down her face before she remembered he’d gone out for the day, and wouldn’t be back for another few hours.
She didn’t know what to do, her hands were shaking and she couldn’t think straight enough to think to call an ambulance. Eventually Kaleb had fallen to the floor, drowning in the blood in his own lungs and Cynder couldn’t do anything but hold him in her lap, tears streaking down her cheeks. “Make it stop!” She cried out, and then he stopped, and she knew by the trickle of blood falling from the corner of his mouth that he was gone.
Part of Reese was incredibly worried as soon as he got Asher out of the rehab center. He hoped like hell Asher would hold up his end of the deal, but part of him also knew that it was going to be hard for the other male and he could very easily relapse. And unfortunately, that’s exactly what had happened.
He got the call in the middle of a gig, an extremely frantic and hard to understand Asher mumbling incoherence at the other end, and Reese knew exactly what it meant. He said nothing as he got off stage, practically threw his guitar in the green room and started running. He didn’t care that he was twenty minutes from Asher’s. He’d run miles if it meant saving him again.
His lungs felt like they were on fire by time he’d gotten to Asher’s, and he practically kicked the door down when he found that it was locked. He looked through the house, finally ending up in the living room where the boy was crumpled up on the floor, baggies of unknown pills and powders all over the table.
"No, Asher, fuck!" He yelled, his eyes filled with tears already spilling over.
Reese dropped to the floor, gathering the blonde in his arms and sobbing loudly.
"Make it stop!" But he knew the boy was gone before the ambulance was even there.
