3/8/19, 6pm, Meridian-Baseline State Park, Jackson County, MI - I debated really hard whether or not to post this. Most of my footage was lost from this anxiety-ridden first solo hike. I didn’t even make it to the ‘initial point’. The GoPro didn’t record the short-lived hike or most of my photos, but this photo remained. Dumped trash in a state park. Fate? Maybe. While I don’t have beautiful photos of the survey monuments or the trail, maybe this one remained to spread the word. STOP. DUMPING. TRASH. This was far from the only visible litter. This blue upholstered chair was among Durex wrappers and black bags of waste near the parking lot. I get it, the chair is ugly. Break it down and dispose of it with waste management. State parks are not trashcans, it’s our duty to keep them clean for the wildlife and visitors alike. Have you all seen this happen at other state parks?
