Midorim lived in New York for a long while before moving back to Tokyo. She posted a flyer at Other Music in the East Village and formed a band called Knocked Out Loaded with some folks that didn't care that she couldn't speak a word of English. The band eventually broke up, but midorim continued to play in clubs and galleries in the city. During her days in New York, midorim worked with Trevor Sias of Music Related, Shy Child (Kill Rock Stars/Wall of Sounds), and folks from DFA Records.
