A Cup for Two |

           Volkner wasn’t the type to drink at difficult times, and instead, he chose to go to a nice café to try and cool his head. The café always had nice music, and good workers, and it was decently quiet for him to think. The chatter didn’t bother him in the least. He wasn’t a people person, but he did enjoy white noise, his favorite being the sound of the ocean. However, the beach wasn’t enough to help him today, as that’d only bring him nostalgic memories.

          Coffee cup in hand, he looked around for a place to sit, but the place was unbearably crowded. In the corner of his eye, he saw someone who looked… familiar. That long, wavy hair, those crescent eyes, and that fragile touch of elegance… it has been years since he’s last seen her, but he recognized her all too well.

          Carefully making his way on over (while making sure to protect his coffee), he gently placed a hand on the empty chair across from her, a small smile forming on his features, his deadpan face no longer apparent. ❛ Katorea, it’s been a long time, I hope you’re enjoying this new year. Do you mind if I take a seat? I was hoping to stay longer, but there are no other seats available. ❜ He spoke softly and comfortingly to her as possible, not wishing to scare her away. The incident that happened once upon a time was not the happiest memory, and he knew it affected her as well. He had to make it up for her somehow.

Pikachu was a good Pokemon, all things considered. He was always there for Red, and was always loyal. That being said, sometimes the yellow Pokemon would run off when he found something interesting. This happened to be one of those days, and it spooked Red really badly.

Pikachu just ran off without his trainer, determined to chase after something--Arceus knows what. Naturally, Red pursued his wayward Pokemon, but eventually the little mouse ran right out of sight. Almost immediately, the brunette started to panic--what if something or someone got to him first?! He bit his lip hard, trying to formulate a plan to find his companion, but nothing came to mind. Eventually, his thinking turned to pacing between the trees of the forest he was in.

He was mentally cursing himself--surely he could think of something that can find his missing Pikachu! Eventually, he ran out of ideas, and he silently sighed deeply. The only thing he could think of was waiting for Pikachu to return, but he’d much rather go out to find him...

Of course, he didn’t notice anyone watching while he was pacing, so anyone could come by the sight of the ex-champion pacing around.

empathy v. apathy (katorea & ava)

It was Ava's first time at a beach, and she already hated it. The sun was much too bright, and there were way too many people around. Still, she had to admit that she had already collected a fair amount of new ingredients to begin using in her potion experiments. Her satchel bag was full almost to bursting with different types of shells and a fair amount of seaweed, as well as a few crystallized lumps of sea salt she had found in a tide pool.

She was getting ready to leave when she spotted a figure alone on the beach. It was odd, most of the other patrons of the beach were accompanied my friends or loved ones. The woman stood out in other ways -- her hair was long and fluffy like a cloud, and her sleepy expression only added to her overall soft appearance.

Ava would be silly not to take advantage of such a naive-looking stranger. With a newfound lightness in her steps, she crossed the sandy beach until she was standing next to her newly selected victim acquaintance.

"Good afternoon, miss." Ava's own expression had taken on a practiced smile. She was always in need of cash to sustain the expenses of traveling. There were certain types of people who simply couldn’t say no, and this woman looked like she fit the bill -- and she looked wealthy, too. “You look awfully sleepy. Can I interest you in a vitality elixir? It’s made with fresh, exotic wild forageables. I normally sell them for 100 pokedollars, but for you I’ll let one go for 80! What do you say?”
