Reflection about the story “Waiting” by Ron Darvin Blog no.10
It is hard to be an “OFW” because you're so far from your love ones so give me a change just study hard and graduated. Every night i can't sleep thinking about you i hope someday we have each other so we can enjoy our lives until i go in the other world i hope you are my family if i live again.
The story discusses how a mother decided to fly to another nation specifically, Canada. She buckled down all together for her family to live there as well. We all we're exceptionally acquainted with the word “migration" since certain individuals need to go to another nation to live and more often for working there most of the time.
Migration has become the solution of certain Filipinos since they are feeling that working in different nations can continue their requirements particularly in cash. In any case, in the event that we will know the narrative of some OFWs, their life was bad in light of the fact that the individual or the business that they are working with is certifiably not a decent one. This happens to a great deal of Filipinos working abroad, yet some prevail in their quest for having an agreeable life. This event is a result of debasement that is profoundly established in our nation. Our economy can't address the issues of our Filipinos, as higher wages, so that is the reason they decided to move in look for a more steady pay. Our economy, including higher salaries, cannot fulfill the needs of our Filipinos, so that's why they choose to migrate in search of a more secure income. They feel homesick, like Isabel and her son Miguel, and seem to miss the activities and life in their hometown. There are many other Filipinos in their situation. To ensure that their family can support them, they sacrifice their presence and time in search of work in another country. Filipinos are very hard-working and resilient, but in these circumstances, we cannot romanticize these ideals, because they are victims of a fractured country with faulty structures. Filipinos still suffer from the low salaries they were given until now, and the saddest part is that they can't leave easily, because it's harder to find new employment.
