(Is there an specific tag we must use for Pokémon related posts or can we go with whatever we want?)
Upon launch, there was not a designated tag for Pokémon related posts.
But if we were to coin one, we think #ca pokemon or #ca migration would suffice.
(However, keep in mind when using the latter that the Pokémon migration is first in - what could very well be - more migrations to come.)
For canon Pokémon characters, will the Pokémon they had before coming to the city count to the same roster one regained, or are they a separate list?
They are counted within the same roster, as they become members of your overall traveling party.
(Can we release Pokémon that we don't want anymore to free slot space?)

((Quick question, does only first evos being available to catch mean that there are literally only pokemons on their first stage around, or there are ones of their other evolutions around but just not catchable?))
At launch, only first stage Pokémon can be located and caught. However, this may change with future updates.
