Post-Rumbling Mikaani yessssssss!!! The thing I personally tend to think about the most is that they probably grow close over letters. It's actually a pretty common headcanon from the fics I've read haha, but something about Annie writing letters, actual letters, to the only other person who, at the beginning, could match in her terms of fighting skill, and then later, come to understand how Annie felt about everything, just touches my heart so much T///////T

Mikasa and Annie don't get to see each other until the Ambassadors finally return to Paradis after 3 years.

But in that time, the letters they exchange transition from stiff, cold, cool, lukewarm, sentimental, warm, friendly, banter and jokes and complaints to finally, heartwarming sheets of paper filled with words they'd likely never say aloud in person.

3 years of letters. That's a lot. That's a lot of time and a lot of ocean separating them, but at the end of it when Annie sees Mikasa, a little older, a little wiser and none the better for crying over Eren, she feels - I know her. I know Mikasa, and in all the letters, I've known Mikasa.

The hug then, is a tight embrace that cannot be put to words :>

I mean i don’t think it’s delusional of you to think something had going between Mikasa and Historia years later Isayama didn’t make that scenes like that for nothing, also almost everyone that is not a eremika fan shipps Mikasa with some girl because she doesn’t really have chemistry with Eren (sorry shippers but main hetero couples in shonen anime barely have chemistry), Mikasa has really great chemistry with basically all the woman she interacts with, that’s also why that’s a lot of discussion in fandom about her sexuality, it’s actually sad how most of the fandom sees Mikasa but i won’t enter in details.

Sometimes I ask myself if Isayama made Mikasa too fruity on purpose or just as a happy accident. You're completely right, she does have a lot of chemistry with women.

Eren and Mikasa are "okay" I guess. I sort of understand why they are canon (despite being very weirdly developed) but it is true that they don't have any chemistry. Same with Jean and Mikasa, they do not share a single chemical reaction. But Annie, Historia and even Sasha had so many cute moments (some even fruity).
