GARY The Bear, Special Episode
finished watching Gary and now i wanna throw up and cry (complimentary) (heartbroken) (unwell) (devastated)
they can take my freedom, they can take my rights, but they’ll have to pry my yaoi out of my cold, dead hands
the "gary" special episode of the bear is just like. what if your best friend who clearly loves you more than anything else in the world had cptsd and bipolar disorder that caused him to lash out at you so badly that you still think about it years after his death. and there's nothing you can do about it. you love him and there's nothing you can do. you can see him unraveling in front of your eyes and all you can do is stand in a burning field with him and hope that when it all burns down something new will spring from the ashes
I saw this post with a gay Mikey hc and dear lord the possibilities that have been unlocked in my brain. Mikey never having a girlfriend for more than six months, sleeping around, and always finding a reason to break up with them, too smart, too dumb, too hot, not hot enough, too casual, not casual enough etc. But he always sticks around Richie.
He never settled down, couldn't think of himself having a family because he doesn't feel like he deserves one, even though he wanted a second chance at having something somewhat normal.
Richie meets Tiff and he doesn't think it'll last but soon he's proposing, he's asking for Mikey's advice and asking him to be his best man and he can't say no. But why does it feel like everything's breaking apart, like Richie's moving to the other side of the world, like he's leaving him? It's just because things will change, it's no big deal even though it feels like his heart's breaking in two. He could hate Tiff, but he's only jealous of her, of how much of Richie's time she'll have, and how she's going to replace him. If anything he's mad at Richie for leaving him behind.
Now Tiff's pregnant, and he's so jealous of Richie for having that second chance, that life of his own with someone who loves him and his flaws. He's asking Mikey to be the godfather and looking for other jobs. It's happening, he's leaving him, he's outgrown him, he'll never have someone as close as Richie ever again.
But it doesn't work out. Jimmy gets the wrong number, Richie's back at the Beef, he and Tiff start fighting. Mikey's glad it's going wrong and hates himself for it. Richie's getting a fresh start and he's happy that his life's being ruined? How awful of a human being is he?
The divorce goes through. Mikey has nowhere to live because he can't go to Donna's so sleeps on Richie's couch, sometimes in his bed. He wears his clothes because his are all at the Beef, or were sold. Mikey makes him food when he's not too high or stressed from work.
They get drunk together, high, or sometimes as close to sober as Mikey gets, and they kiss, they touch, things go further and somehow everything slots into place. Richie's his in a way that he never thought he could have him, he never even considered having him. He's all his when their bodies are so close, when everything's so overwhelming Mikey briefly forgets what a shitshow his life is.
I like to think that if he hadn't killed himself, if he'd gotten help or someone had forced him to, he would've fully realised this.
richiecarmy truther cause carmy has done everything in dreams of getting mikey's approval and what better way to mend that than to be loved by the only person who truly saw mikey
