Dirk grew up in a post-apocalyptic future where there was only one other living human, who he never met in person, and mostly only socialized with three humans and two aliens through instant message. Not even video chat. Caliborn was one of those aliens and he liked to ask Dirk to draw porn for him, but since he was an alien the porn was like, people holding hands. Caliborn grew up to be a time-traveling demon that destroyed several universes, but when Dirk knew him, he was just a very rude boy with a developmental disability.
Mikorin/Mayu (Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun)
Mikorin and Mayu know each other through Mayu's older brother, the titular Nozaki-kun, who secretly writes shojo manga. Mikorin is one of Nozaki's assistants who specializes in drawing flowery backgrounds. Mayu largely doesn't care about anything except for napping and judo, and frequently refuses to talk because it's too much effort. Once they went to a mixer together, and Mikorin kept sticking so close to Mayu that the other guys made a game of seeing how small a space he could cram himself into.
