Long time no post... going to try and breath some life into this blog again. I’ll try to share some well overdue DD photos as well as maybe some Monster High WIP mods. I have started some custom projects I look forward to sharing with you (if they don’t turn out like poo!)
I got some pretty nice stuff at Dolpa last weekend. Aside from the kigurumi, Mel got a new hat, all the DD girls got sandles and Rin/Miku got summer dresses (Rin’s came with a hat)(Bri didn’t get any clothes because she just got that new outfit the week before) Unfortunately I didn’t find any eyes I liked enough for Apollo in the right size but oh well. I took a whole load of photos at Dolpa - I used my camera so they wouldn’t take up space on my phone which is why none have made it here yet - and I will write the report in multiple parts hopefully soon.
Some pics of my Miku all Miku'd up now that I have her default outfit at last. I'm so moved! I'm glad I was able to save her. She is technically put together from 3 separate Mikus. Her head/hands/wig/clothes are from my friend (the wig needed a lot of restoring), the body is from a second hand handless snow Miku on yahoo auctions and her headset is from yet another Miku also on yahoo auctions (as it's the only part of her default set my friend couldn't find) Total cost: 30000 yen, which is the price of the second hand body, headset and the 3000 yen my friend asked for the wig and clothes after I insisted on paying -something- since she already gave me her head/hands for free. Which is roughly half her RRP, so not bad at all.
The person who gave me Miku’s head also still had her default outfit and wig, so I offered to buy them off her. Because of the condition, she sold me the lot for 3000 yen which is not a bad deal at all considering her wig on its own tends to go for 8-10,000. I haven’t tried the default outift on her - it’s got a lot of loose threads and scuff-marks and has definitely seen better days (but I think its salvageable), and her wig was basically a giant ball of matted frizz. I wanted the wig because I figured it’d be easier, and cheaper, to try to restore it then to fork out for a new one, and I gotta admit when i saw it I almost wanted to admit defeat immediately. But I stuck at it for a really long time, I spent well over an hour on each tail just going through it piece by piece in small stands, armed with a metal comb, water spray and Azone doll oil mist. I also soaked the wig overnight in a mix of water and wig shampoo which might have helped it a bit too. I had to cut out some of the worst of the knots with scissors. The first pic shows the wig with one tamed twintail and one untouched one, and the other two are the results. It’s still a little frizzy but I can actually get a brush through the entire length of the twintail now! I’m really glad I was able to restore it, and I’m also really glad to finally see Miku with her trademark hairstyle, as cute as short-hair Miku is. But damn people werent lying when they said that wig is heavy. It really does make her head weigh more.
These two became idol friends and are watching tv with me. The outfit on Apollo (I think I'll go with that for his name) is the male equivalent of the YoSD version of the candypop dress Miku has on (these YoSD ones actually came out first a few years back) so I hold onto the hope that one day they'll release male versions in MSD and SD sizes so I can collect them all. (I already have the MSD candypop dress (but no doll for it yet)
