anyway i'm not reblogging that post anymore so @laura
I can honestly say as a huge Edgeworth lover that I would have not been bothered if they’d left him out of the game. We have a lot of his backstory and his character has been thoroughly explored so I didn’t see why the brought him back ayway to be honest? I’m glad they did, but I’m still not sure why. It’s the same with Pearl, unless she is greatly related to the plot in some way I see no reason they brought her back except for fan outcry?
This whole Maya outcry (espcially in the livestream last night) has really bothered me because I don’t see why she needs to be in the game. the Fey family has been explored to death in ALL THREE of the Phoenix games so why does she need to be in this one!?
If the fandom who are so desperate to see her come back can answer me that and give me a decent reason then I will acknowledge it, but other than that I have no desire to see any more rage posts about her not being in the game.
I completely agree. I love the feys and I love Edgeworth etc etc but they've had their run. I would have been more than satisfied had they just mentioned edgeworth's name in the passing. or if phoenix shows the magatama to apollo and he tells him he got it from "one of his old friends". I can't see a legitimate reason for the old cast returning outside of fanservice.
on being asked "what do you want to see most in the next ace attorney game?"
not unusually, a fan would answer with reactions - "character x's return!!" or "more info on what happened to x?" etc. a lot of the time i think that means that companies would assess what would be best for the franchise (in this case the $$$) by gauging popular answers - these reactions.
it's kind of shitty that a lot of these game companies would follow the masses but it's for the money lol
