I don't think Millicent Bowyen realizes how amazing she is. Not only is she an incredible RPer, but she's absolutely wonderful OOC. Everything about her is as good as you'd hope it to be and then some.
It was all I had to give her, and it was odd that the moment I saw her, I knew exactly what it was that had drawn Ciara to her. I could see it standing about her, almost an aura that was visible to the eye. Everything I could think to implore the gods for I had bound to that charm which had fallen from the shelf.
I had asked for something of the woman I needed to guard from Ciara's mistake. A bee... How appropriate. Honest. Industrious. A symbol of so many things, and marked indistinctly, as she saw herself. I can't trust that it will protect her, but I've done all I can. Some things, I fear, are too grave for me to handle, walking blind as I am in this.
...I know some of what has come to pass. I can feel that mistake as if it were a raven perched on my shoulder. Why it is that I should feel it, as though I had a hand in it, I cannot tell. Perhaps it is just that I should have tried harder to warn her. I should have tried harder to show her what her fear was hiding from her.
What's done is done, and all the time I spent with her in mind made it easy to look in on her through fire and water. That is what truly alarmed me, what spurred me to draw the strongbox from beneath the swamp water and remove the bracelet. That is why I must keep looking for where that hanging dread is- something is to be paid in blood, but by whose?
I tried to see her, the woman who once saved my life, who guarded me and guided me subtly over these last few years, and in the fire, I could see only a ghost.
If this is what it feels like to finally break...
...why am I wondering if she would slam the door in my face if I went to her?
...so...
That's that.
I can still smell the gods damned things and no matter many times I rub my gloves on whatever comes to hand, that... sickeningly sweet smell is still there.
Roses. Of all the things to pick. Roses.
...I just... wanted to see her smile. Not that look that says she's trying not to cry or wants to be happy but something about me is keeping her from doing it. That genuine smile. I wanted to see it after today.
My timing is always so fucking perfect. What did I expect?
No one needs to know about this... duel- death match, suicide, whatever you want to call it- that he and I arranged. If I can get the glove back... Maybe...
Maybe what, stupid girl? Maybe WHAT?
You'll be all right? The world will be shiny? She'll smile and you two will go on long walks together? You won't be killing people anymore or scraping yourself along the bottom of Lion's Arch just to make gold for him?
Fuck it.
It's mine and it's the only thing that was ever really mine. I want it back, even if one of us dies.
...I'm never buying her roses again. I hate the way they smell.
