“You look like you just saw a ghost” -Millie ( @milliesmo )

“Because I have!” The younger of the two claimed as she took a seat on the couch. Melody didn’t even bother to greet her twin, feeling rather drained from the encounter she just had back at the cafe she had been at. Who would have thought that of all the people she would end up meeting and running into after coming back home from her months long shoot and her having a day out for herself, it was Millie’s ex-boyfriend. Melody hadn’t even realized Millie was dating anyone during the time she was gone! Last she knew, her sister had been so consumed with her on-again-off-again relationship with Morty, and whenever she had the time to chat with her twin on the phone before and she were to mention going on a date, Melody assumed it had all been with Morty. So imagine her surprised that she not only encountered her twins ex, but apparently she was even informed of how the two had broken up. Hence, why Melody felt as drained as she did at the moment. After releasing a small sigh, the younger gazed up at her sister. “How come you hadn’t told me you were dating someone before?”

“We wouldn’t make it very far in our careers if we weren’t good at pretending,” Morty replied lightly. Yet despite Millie’s own tone seeming to convey a certain level of airiness, she was either not quite as good at pretending as needed to pass that off as truly nonchalant, or he was too good at reading her. There was something serious behind her comment that he didn’t want to just breeze past and treat flippantly. Especially not after what they’d done last night, which was obviously at the heart of what Millie was talking about—the way that they always seemed to end up here whenever they both found themselves single at the same time. This time it was a bad breakup with Boomer (of all people) on Millie’s end which led to their late night deep talk, comfort session and hook-up. (This, made possible by the fact that Morty was no longer in a relationship either as of recently.)

It was often like that, their timing…And just as often they ended up getting back together with each other, for a while, before coming to the same conclusion again and again: they weren’t made to last as a couple. That didn’t stop them from sleeping together last night, though he had a growing suspicion that they both knew this time it wasn’t going to turn into anything more than what it was, a physical comfort that had happened because it was familiar and easy for them. That had to be what Millie was thinking now. Morty finished pulling on his shirt and went back to sit on the edge of her bed. “We could drop all the pretense and be honest with each other right now,” he offered. She could claim they both preferred to take the easy route, but—“We’re not scared of doing things the hard way, are we?”

Minnie smiled at her niece’s diss towards the attendees of the event she was describing, a wrap party for the Heathers musical film she was the star of, naturally themed around the decade the story was set in. As a child of the 80’s herself, Minnie had some fondness for the decade’s fashions herself, but she could understand why they wouldn’t be suited to Millie’s modern tastes. “I know you looked good, so not all the outfits were terrible,” she answered smoothly. “As long as you all had fun, that’s what matters! Did you take any pictures?”

The Date || Sid and Millie

Sid climbed the stairs up the divination tower, taking a few small moments to peer from the windows. Looking over the damp october landscape he took a deep breath. This hadn't even been planned. He had made this choice on whim (not that snap decisions were a new trait for him), but still his heart beat with excitement. 

He looked from the stained-glass and returned to his ascent. He hadn't gone to class all day (of course), and was actively avoiding any professor that might see him and get on his case about it. He decided it was best to wait outside the door and grab Millie on her way out.

Class would be out in about five minutes so he had a few moments to collect himself. He had invited her on the date mostly as a joke, not because he didn't want to go, but because he never expected anyone to say yes, and when she did, it was more of a pleasant surprise than he thought. He arrived at the door, took a deep breath, and leaned up against the wall as inconspicuously as possible.
