October 6th is #WorldCerebralPalsyDay so: Hiya! I'm Julia (she/her) & I have hemiplegic mixed CP-- mostly spastic with a pinch of ataxia ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶t̶r̶e̶a̶t̶ XD Here are some CP facts (from @WorldCPDay's slides here: https://worldcpday.org/portfolio-item/slide-decks/) The most common type of CP is spastic, which causes stiff and/or tight muscles. Then there’s ataxia— shaky movements, balance/spatial issues. There's also dyskinetic—this means involuntary movement and issues w/ muscle tone. Then there's mixed, aka fun grab bag of any or all types 😆 CP can affect all 4 limbs, just legs w/less effect on arms, or 1 arm&leg on the same side— hemiplegia. That’s what’s up with m y right side & I'm also left-handed, so sometimes I legit just forget my right hand needs to do stuff too lol CP can also affect the ability to talk & other mental or bodily functions. There is no *one* kind of CP. 45% of folks w/ CP folks are preemies, born premature. And it’s most likely— that is, a 10% change compared to “older” preemies— to show up in babies born more than 28 weeks early. hi, hello, I am in these stats. 25 week squad where u at lmao So, yeah. This is me! I'm #CPStrong :D but also #DisabledAndCute & DisabledAndQueer ^////^ For more info & awesome stories about CP folks being awesome, check out @WorldCPDay -- https://worldcpday.org & the #MillionsOfReasons tag. #DisabilityRights are human rights!!!!!!!
