Managed to get some millipede photos today! Little guy could smell cucumber on my finger and was trying to eat it!

Hello! Me again, I’ve come to inquiry about millipedes!!

Cade is doing fantastic, he’s his wonderfully grumpy self. But I’d love to keep more bugs.

As of right now, I haven’t checked with my local breeder- but do you have any tips or advice on Millipede keeping?

This is my first time keeping millipedes myself, but I’m finding it quite easy and enjoyable! Seems to me that substrate is the most important factor, followed by humidity/temperature. I’d recommend getting yourself some nice substrate—I’ve been using this one. They mostly feed on their substrate but I provide fresh vegetables as well, with a sprinkling of calcium to help exoskeleton health.

Edit: “fresh” in the sense that I replace the vegetables often— not that they’re actually fresh themselves, as millipedes do prefer decaying materials. :)

My millipedes are desert millipedes so I’m making sure to have a humidity gradient, with most of the tank being fairly dry, but you should do research for your specific species you end up getting. Let me know if you end up getting any! So excited for you!♥️
