Spelunking 101 with Dr. Thatch || Milottie
@sweatinlikeasinner
It was a beautiful day to go spelunking.
Milo had grinned bright as he remembered that was how he was going to spend the first half of his Saturday, and then scrambled out from the bed to get ready. The hour was early and he had to meet Lottie at the trail in order to properly lead her to the Lyons Cave/Cave of Wonder/Black Scar etc. etc. Couldn’t be responsible for a student getting lost in the woods now, could he! He’d definitely get negative marks then (definitely wouldn’t get hired full-time).
Also, that could be potentially dangerous.
So he scrambled fast, brushing his teeth, running a brush roughly through his hair and then slipping on his gear one piece at a time. At one point Jane had cracked open an eye and laughed a little as he hopped around the room, struggling with his boot (his heel was stuck). But then she’d slid to the end of the bed and beckoned him over, helping him fix it-- tying it tightly. She reminded him to eat breakfast, and to that, Milo just grimaced.
“I’ll grab some energy bars,” he assured her. “I got my lunch packed too!”
Jane gave him a look, but Milo grinned, then pressed his lips against hers in a quick kiss, mostly all teeth and dimple. “We’ll go out next,” he promised her, thinking of 1876 and Jane’s long skirts and, of course, of making love while covered in demon goop. One didn’t get more romantic than that.
And with one more goodbye and one more kiss, Milo was off, with a light spring to his step. He barely felt the drizzle of the light rain as he bounced all the way to the trail. He got there with a bit of time to spare and so he waited patiently until he heard the crackle of footsteps brushing over forest litter and kicking at gravel. Milo’s grin once again spread across his face.
“Why Miss Charlotte Le Bouff, hello! Beautiful day to go spelunking, isn’t it?” he called to her, chirping like a little bird. “I hope you’re excited!”
