1. "Did it bite you?" for Supercorp please? :)
All in all, Kara didn’t find the zombie apocalypse to be too intimidating. With her unbreakable skin, super speed, and laser vision, she was pretty well protected against bites and attacks. She could also take good care of those around her, and so could Alex, as long as there were plenty of bullets and big guns. Alex was really the only reason she felt comfortable leaving the small group of survivors to go find food every few days, as she knew her older sister was capable of keeping everyone safe in her absence.
As she flew through the air over the decimated landscape of National City, she glanced at Cat Co. and grimaced, wishing she knew where Cat had dove off to all those months before. She missed her boss and hoped she was well, wherever in the world she was. She couldn’t keep wallowing in what she didn’t know, however, so she altered her flight plan to go more directly back to the camp out in the desert. The old DEO facility had turned out to be a pretty good hiding spot, what with its security measures and weapons array.
Landing, she frowned. Normally, there were half a dozen people waiting to greet her and take the supplies inside. Now, though, there was nobody. She didn’t mind carrying the bags in, but worry began to gnaw at her stomach. There was blood on the door, which was cocked open. She stopped. She dropped the bags.
Sprinting into the facility, she listened for the sound of heartbeats and followed the path to a locked door, the outside of which was thronged with zombies. Blasting them away with heat vision and fists, she cleared the horde out and yanked the doors open.
She found Alex immediately, eyes downcast and shoulders hunched. She counted through the other survivors, all of whom were fine but shaken. Finally, she realized Lena was on the floor with a rag pressed to her ankle. Heart in her throat, Kara all but flew over and grabbed her hand.
Lena managed to pry an eye open. For a moment, her lips moved without noise; then her tongue dabbed them moist, and she tried again, “No. Kara, I’m fine.”
“I tripped.” Lena closed her eyes again. “Got cut open. That’s how they followed us here. The blood.”
Kara kissed her soundly and drew her into a crushing hug--with a touch too much Kryptonian strength. Lena gasped, and she released, although not for long. After that scare, she could hardly keep her hands to herself.
