Prompt 14: "Don't go on the date." "Why?" "You know why." "Say It."
Finally
You should be excited as you got ready in your room. But all you could think about was the sulking man in your living room.
He came over for movie night, forgetting you cancelled two days prior to go on a blind date set up by your friend. You invited him to stay, but he simply went quiet, and watched you get ready with a look you couldn't quite place.
For a moment, just a moment, you thought maybe it was jealousy. But that would be to good to be true.
Jongho wouldn't be jealous, not like this. You were just trying to find some sign, any sign, that he might feel the same feelings you had been hiding away for so long. But he never showed any real sign of it. But still, you hoped.
Walking out into the room, Jongho's eyes glanced up from his phone and you saw his mouth part slightly. You nervously ran your hands over your clothes.
"Do I look okay?"
Jongho remained silent for a moment as he stared at you, before cleared his throat and nodding, "Yeah, you look great."
You smiled shyly as you walked over to the table to grab your bag.
Jongho watched you closely, his heart clenching painfully in his chest. He was running out of time, he knew it.
What if he let you go on this date and you hated the guy?
You were walking towards the door now.
"Feel free to eat anything in the fridge!" You smiled back to him.
Or, what if you liked him?
You were slipping on your shoes now.
What if you fell in love with him?
You were reaching for the door.
"Wait!"
You jumped at Jongho's sudden loud voice. Turning around, you saw him standing, staring at you with a wide and desperate gaze, his phone clenched tightly in his hands.
"What?" You voice came out soft and stunned.
He swallowed, letting out a shaky breath. "Don't go on the date."
Your heart flipped in your chest as your voice vanished. You shook your head almost unnoticeably. "Why?"
Jongho almost let out a desperate sigh as he tilted his head. "You know why. You have to know."
Was it-? Did he-?
"Say it." Your voice was almost a whisper, as you held on desperately to whatever hope rose up from your heart. Hope you pushed away a long time ago.
Jongho kept his eyes locked with yours as he walked across the room. Stopping right in front of you, his eyes piercing into yours. He slowly reached up and places his hands on either side of your face. His eyes darted between yours as his chest ached.
"Because you're supposed to be with me." He gently caressed your cheek with his thumb. "I don't know why I waited so long to say it, but I am now." You're meant to be with me, only me. So don't go on this date. Stay here with me, please."
He finished with a whisper as he stared almost pleadingly into your eyes.
"Jongho." You began, uncertain of how to put your emotions into words. Slowly a smile crept onto your face. "Took you long enough."
Jongho tilted his head slightly in confusion before a grin broke out onto his face. He looked down at his feet with a sigh before meeting your eyes again. Leaning forward he pressed a kiss to the tip of your nose.
"I'm always a bit late aren't I?"
You nodded with a smile before stepping forward and wrapping your arms around him, hugging his chest. He let out a relieved sigh as he wrapped his own arms around you and held you close.
A he pressed a kiss to your head, you felt warmth radiate through you. You were finally where you were always meant to be.
