Good evening, Upper East Siders. All of you must be wondering why I've gathered us here today, or even who I am. You know what they say: patience is a virtue, but it seems many of us have let our virtues slip in the last three years.
Admit it, when Gossip Girl was up and running, knowing we were being watched at any moment kept us on our best behavior... or at least the best behavior we could manage. The site kept us honest, accountable, and responsible. Without it, we may feel safe but we're all getting sloppy. As long as the media is controlled by an elite few at The Spectator, we'll never know the whole truth like we used to.
So I've brought us all together once more to invite each and everyone one of you to take back public knowledge. The truth can set us all free, should we choose to accept the call.
I know, I know, some of us may be thinking that Dan Humphrey ruined our lives while he was hiding behind his computer screen! But do you want to meet the real Gossip Girl? Well, look around, find a mirror, and you just did. Gossip Girl was written by all of us sending in tips, spilling one another's secrets, and telling our truths. We were a team.
I can see that most high school friendships have faded since we've all last been together, but it's my hope that we can bond together again for the greater good and the whole truth.
You may be rid of Dan Humphrey but you'll never be rid of me. Who am I now? That's one secret I'll never tell. The only one.
