I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE ALL THE MUSIC MIMI IS REPRESENTING MAKE COHERENT SENSE! So remember how I said she probably had phases over time? Well here's a rough kinda timeline: - early career (17-19) is the Melanie Martinez kind of stuff, she was young, tried to handle bigger issues with sweet sounding pop tunes, and it showed her innocence in some ways. Yes, the songs had some seriously dark undertones at times, but she was trying to go for a deep meaning. - at 19 she started to lighten up a little with the content of her music, and made stuff like the stuff on Taylor Swift's 1989, because over time she got a little bored with making the songs secretly depressing and morbid and decided to just make music for the fun of it. - then from 20 alllll the way to Billy's death was her heyday, and when she switched record labels, when her music was like Lady Gaga kind of stuff, it was the perfect mix of fun and poppy, and dark undertones at times. She made a Born This Way type of song, which was soon ripped off by Miss Blah Blah. -after Billy died, her music turned melancholy, and rather than dark undertones, she wasn't trying to be subtle anymore, and became the Marina and The Diamonds like stuff. Anyways this isn't really final, it's just a rough idea of the evolution of her music.
