In all three of my towns I always seem to find them most frequently at the open space at my plaza during the fireworks festival. I’ve also heard other people say they find them more during the fireworks.
ahh, thank you so much!! i'll definitely concentrate my efforts there. i hope i find one soon, it'd be super annoying to stay in august until i catch one but i also don't particularly want to wait until next year ... euughh!

Last night I p much screamed because I came out of my house and had my DS laying flat while I was playing all snuggled up under my blanket in my bed, because a tarantula came scurrying across the screen really quick, I thought a real spider was on my screen and screamed ;v; Almost fell outta bed. So good luck, because I’m totally too much of a scaredy cat to ever try and catch one for my museum.
oh jeez, i'm so sorry to hear that!! ;__; i imagine it must be quite a shock when they pop up so unexpectedly! i'm very lucky in that i'm not afraid of spiders so i'm hoping that won't be too much of a problem for me -- but if one suddenly scuttles across the screen without warning i'd probably jump out of my skin! :P good luck to you too if you ever decide to try and catch one!!
